  • Publication number: 20080049011
Abstract: The present invention concerns a mapping arrangement for defining selected physical characteristics of a surface to be imaged and a method of mapping a surface. The arrangement comprises a template device (6, 7, 8) for temporary application to a surface (2, 3, 4) to be mapped, the template 10 device being configured and constructed such that, when photographed in situ on said surface, it provides a computer supplied with a digital image of the photograph with data from which one or more of the physical characteristics of the surface can be automatically computed, thereby permitting the computer to utilise software, requiring inputs indicative of said characteristics, capable of changing the appearance of the imaged surface in accordance with user selection.

  • Publication number: 20080049914
Abstract: A method and apparatus turns a typical home telephone system into a platform for delivery of web based content and services. The preferred embodiment of the invention comprises a broadband enabled telephone system for the home and a series of web servers that collect, package, and deliver personalized content and services to all of the telephone handsets throughout the home. With this end-to-end solution, any information or services available via the web can be delivered through a broadband enabled telephone system. Through the web, each member of a family can build a profile which defines what information and services they want available through the handset. In addition, each handset can be dynamically personalized for any family member. The color screens on the handsets become windows through which an individual can view and interact with a broad range of content and services. The audio channels thus become an extension of the voice based services, such as messaging and voice chat.

  • Patent number: 7336106
Abstract: A phase detector generates a first output signal if a feedback clock signal leads a reference clock signal by more than a first time. The phase detector generates a second output signal if the feedback clock signal lags the reference clock signal by more than a second time. If the feedback clock signal either leads the reference clock signal by less than the first time or lags the reference clock signal by less than the second time, neither output signal is generated. The phase detector may be used in a delay-lock loop in which the first and second output signals increase or decrease a delay of the reference clock signal by respective first and second delay increments. In such case, the each of the first and second delay increments should be less than the sum of the first and second times.

  • Patent number: 7337136
Abstract: A current mortgage price indicator futures contract (“Mortgage Futures Contract”) that can be traded on a futures exchange. The contracts add value over existing hedging and speculating alternatives by meeting the needs of a wide range of mortgage and mortgage-backed securities (MBS) market participants such as portfolio managers, dealers, hedgers, originators, speculators and arbitrageurs. The Mortgage Futures Contract is based upon conventional MBS and has a relatively current coupon composition, thereby resulting in risk properties that appeal to market participants more so than prior contracts based on non-conventional MBS that were not correlated to current MBS production. The Mortgage Futures Contract has a cash settlement feature designed to eliminate complicated and largely uneconomic physical delivery of the underlying security. An options contract corresponding to the Mortgage Futures Contract and that can be traded on a futures exchange.

  • Patent number: 7334582
Abstract: The invention is directed toward a magnetic valve reader used as an indicator tool. The magnetic valve reader determines a location and an orientation for a magnetic indicator device to indicate a device setting of an implantable medical device. The implantable medical device includes the magnetic indicator device coupled to a valve on the implantable medical device. External magnetic fields, specifically the Earth's magnetic field, may interfere with the compass and create an incorrect device setting indication. The electronic reader estimates the external magnetic fields to subtract the estimate from received data to minimize any influence that external magnetic field has on the accuracy of the device setting measurement.

  • Patent number: 7337306
Abstract: There is disclosed a data processor having a clustered architecture that comprises at least one branching cluster, at least one non-branching cluster and remote conditional branching control circuitry. Each of the clusters is capable of computing branch conditions, though only the branching cluster is operable to perform branch address computations. The remote conditional branching control circuitry, which is associated with each of the clusters, is operable in response to sensing a conditional branch instruction in a non-branching cluster to (i) cause the branching cluster to compute a branch address and a next program counter address,(ii) cause the non-branching cluster to compute a branch condition, and (iii) communicate the computed branch condition from the non-branching cluster to the branching cluster. The data processor then uses the computed branch condition to select one of the branch address or the next program counter address.

  • Patent number: 7336765
Abstract: Described herein is a portable, self-contained, electronic radioscopic imaging system that utilizes a multiple camera imager and advanced processing techniques to image suspicious containers. An X-ray sensor or imager utilizes a scintillating screen that produces flashes of light when impinged by an X-ray in combination with at least one camera, or the like, to produce an integrated signal that represents the sum of a prescribed number of flashes of radiation that pass through the object in a given pixel area. A self-contained display and control unit utilizes digital signal processing in order to display to an operator the full dynamic range and resolution of an image-capturing novel sensor utilized within the imager.

  • Patent number: 7334745
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and a machine for dispersing a liquid bird repellent solution. The method includes providing a liquid bird repellent solution at a first orifice. The first orifice is defined in a liquid conduit. A flow of air is released through a second orifice to an ambient atmosphere. The second orifice is defined in an air conduit. The air conduit encloses the first orifice and contains air at a pressure significantly elevated with respect to that of the ambient atmosphere. The second orifice is spaced sufficiently apart from the first orifice to allow the flow of air to form a venturi to entrain droplets of the liquid bird repellent solution into the flow of air from the first orifice.
