  • Patent number: 11545114
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and apparatus for data processing, e.g., a display processing unit (DPU). The apparatus may receive data including a plurality of data bits, the data being associated with at least one data source. The apparatus may also determine whether at least a portion of the data corresponds to priority data, the priority data being within a region of interest (ROI). The apparatus may also detect an adjustment amount of the received data when at least a portion of the data corresponds to priority data, the data being displayed or stored based on the detected adjustment amount.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 6, 2020
Date of Patent: January 3, 2023
    Assignee: QUALCOMM Incorporated
Inventors: Paul Christopher John Wiercienski, John Chi Kit Wong, Rahul Gulati, Gary Arthur Ciambella, Sreekanth Modaikkal

  • Publication number: 20210385493
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and apparatus for display processing. The apparatus can calculate a bandwidth compression ratio (CR) for each of a plurality of tile rows in one or more layers in a frame, each of the one or more layers being associated with one or more regions in the frame. The apparatus can also determine a bandwidth CR for each of the one or more regions associated with each of the one or more layers based on the calculated bandwidth CR for the plurality of tile rows in the one or more layers. Additionally, the apparatus can determine a total bandwidth for the frame based on the determined bandwidth CR for each of the one or more regions associated with the one or more layers. The apparatus can also calculate a total bandwidth for each of the one or more regions.

  • Patent number: 10082860
Abstract: This disclosure describes techniques for reducing power consumption of a display device. According to these techniques, a display device is configured to determine whether an image to be displayed by the display device has become static. In response to identifying such a static image, the display device may operate in a static image mode. According to the static image mode, the display device may read a current frame of image data, modify the current frame of image data to generate a modified frame of image data with a reduced size, and store the modified image data in memory. The display device may read the modified image data from memory to present the static image, which may reduce power consumption of the display device.

  • Patent number: 8910307
Abstract: Generally, aspects of this disclosure are directed to copy protection techniques. Areas in memory may be secured to establish a secure memory area in the memory that is not accessible by unauthorized clients. A request to decode video content stored in the secure memory area may be received. If the video content to be decoded is stored in the secure memory area, a first MMU associated with the hardware decoder may enforce a rule that the video content is to be decoded into one or more output buffers in the secure memory area. A request to display the decoded video content stored in the secure memory area may be received. If the decoded video content is stored in the secure memory area, a second MMU associated with a hardware display processor may enforce a rule that a secure link be established between the hardware display processor and an output device.
