Abstract: A dispensing system includes a roll comprising a keyed end, a dispenser comprising a housing for receiving the roll, and a mount comprising a roll holder to support the keyed end and a roll support to support an opposing end. The roll holder comprises a frame, a clutch plate, a spindle, and a biasing unit, the clutch plate being disposed adjacent the spindle, and the spindle receives the keyed end and is rotatably coupled to the frame to permit rotation of the roll and the clutch plate about the dispensing axis. The spindle comprises a clutch surface and translates along the dispensing axis, and the biasing unit biases the spindle along the dispensing axis away from the frame. Mounting the keyed end of the roll onto the mount pushes the spindle towards the frame to increase a normal force between the clutch plate and the clutch surface.

The lid is moveable between a covered position, in which the lid covers the opening, and an uncovered position in which the lid does not cover the opening, and the lid is configured to engage with the transfer element such that movement from the uncovered position to the covered position moves the transfer element from an open position to a closed position to unlock the trap, and to permit movement of the trap to expose the blade for cutting the material.

Abstract: A cervical inspection device (610) for performing a cervical smear test is provided. The device (610) has a tubular body (612) having a first end (614) which is engagable by an operator and a second end (616) which is insertable into a patient's vaginal canal, the tubular body (612) having a central bore (620) which extends along its longitudinal axis for receiving a cervical sampling brush (622) therethrough. There is also an expansion element (630) at or adjacent to the second end (616) of the tubular body (612) and control means operable from the first end (614) of the tubular body (612) for selectably expanding and/or contracting the expansion element (630). The expansion element (630) forms a protective region beyond the central bore (620) in an expanded condition thereof for the said cervical sampling brush (622) to move through during a cervical smear test.
