  • Patent number: 5805570
Abstract: End-to-end call processing of an ISDN-BRI central-office switch is simulated using a polled multi-tasking method which is executed by a single microcomputer in an ISDN-BRI central-office emulator which includes (i) a packet handler, (ii) a time-space multiplexer, (iii) an in-band tone generator, and (iv) a plurality of dual-interface line modules, each of which includes a U-interface loop termination device and an S/T-interface network termination device. The method includes controlling the packet handler to simulate packet-handling functions required for ISDN signalling and ISDN data exchange, controlling the time-space multiplexer and in-band-tone generator to simulate at least one of the circuit mode voice and data connections functions of the ISDN-BRI central-office switch, and activating either the U-interface loop termination device or the S/T-interface network termination device of at least one of the dual-interface line modules.

  • Patent number: 5259800
Abstract: A microprocessor controlled system for testing and selectively reconditioning a CRT in accordance with the Beltron process. The microprocessor monitors the function and filament voltage selection switches actuated by an operator. Once the filament voltage and functions have been specified, the microprocessor automatically controls the application of filament voltage, AC voltage and relatively high DC voltage to the CRT and displays the progress and results of the selected function. The system tests the emission characteristics of the cathode in each gun element, causes simultaneous cleaning of the cathode/grid elements by controlling the application of an AC voltage across each cathode/grid circuit while the filament voltage is at an elevated level, and restores those cathode/grid circuits requiring restoration by controlling the application of a relatively high DC voltage to each cathode/grid circuit in serial fashion for the several gun elements while maintaining the filament voltage at an elevated level.

  • Patent number: 5007077
Abstract: A coin telephone message and management system is provided for use at a central office location of a telephone system with a plurality of conventional remotely located coin telephone stations and with, or in place of, an automated coin subsystem to which the coin telephone stations are otherwise connected by coin trunks.

  • Patent number: 4839916
Abstract: Apparatus for automatically obtaining data useful to determine accuracy of telephone toll message accounting equipment and procedures is disclosed. The apparatus is connected to plural telephone network lines of the telephone system at a central office location and simultaneously dials a plurality of predetermined long distance telephone numbers, each of which returns detectable information when successfully dialed up. The presence of the detectable information, such as test tone, is noted and the time is logged. This information is then automatically compared by a central control computer with the billing information collected by the billing computer to ascertain operational accuracy of the latter. The apparatus is automatically remotely operated by the central control computer under a predetermined protocol.

  • Patent number: 4728948
Abstract: A computer controlled wire center unit for a remote monitoring and control system is disclosed. The system includes an operations console at a central control point, a wire center unit remote from the operations console, and a plurality of switching units in the area to be remotely monitored and controlled from the central control point. Each switching unit is connected to the wire center by a wire pair, and a communications path extends between the wire center and the central control point.

  • Patent number: 4633042
Abstract: An improved step-by-step switch assembly includes an electronic controller conversion module. A programmed microprocessor responds to incoming pulse trains of widely variant make and break ratios and generates precisely timed and shaped pulses to operate vertical, rotary and release magnets of the switch assembly. Other features include increased loop sensitivity, selective digit absorption and automatic periodic contact wiping to clean all of the contacts of the assembly.

  • Patent number: 4520234
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for a remote cable switching system for selectively switching pairs of an incoming trunk to one or the other corresponding pairs of two available outgoing trunks are disclosed. The system includes at least one remote switch module, a normally quiescent remote control module, and a central office controller which provides the remote control module with operating power and with switching commands during a command sequence. The remote control module accumulates power and decodes the sent switching commands in order to operate identified bistable switches of the switch module to establish the desired matrix. Circuitry for remotely testing proper tip-ring orientation of the connected pairs is provided at the central office is also disclosed and claimed.

  • Patent number: 4434328
Abstract: A lockout circuit improves a remotely activated loop testing connection block for disconnecting a telephone subscriber's service instrument from a telephone tip and ring line pair during a test interval. The lockout circuit includes a latching relay which is responsive to a lockout command signal only when it is sent during a remotely commanded test interval. The instrument is reconnected automatically at the beginning of a subsequent test interval.

  • Patent number: 4169220
Abstract: A remotely actuated line testing connection block with modular jack is disclosed for installation and use to connect directly to a subscriber's telephone instrument. The block is connected to the incoming tip and ring wires of the line and to ground and provides tests which closely emulate those performed by a field repairman. When a test voltage of a first polarity from a central office is applied across one of the tip and ring wires and ground, a capacitor is charged. Upon release of the test voltage, the capacitor actuates a first switch which shorts the tip and ring wires together and may also ground them if a ground test option is selected. The capacitor also activates a second switch which disconnects the user's instrument. The first switch releases after about half of a test interval with the second switch releasing at the end thereof to restore normal line connections.
