  • Publication number: 20140166396
Abstract: Conduits and methods for use evacuating a facility include a first end positioned at the facility, a second end movable between the facility and a remote location, at least one elongate member engaged with the body of the conduit and the facility, and at least one stabilization member engaged with the elongate member(s). Angled panels within the interior, oriented in opposition to adjacent panels, can permit users to transit through the body at a controllable rate. The material of the conduit or an outer sheath can protect users from flame, smoke, gas, or other hazards. The second end can engage a breakaway platform removably engaged with an escape vessel, enabling individuals to transit directly from a facility to the vessel. The elongate member(s) can pass through orifices in the platform to enable relative vertical motion between the platform/vessel and elongate member(s).

  • Publication number: 20140165900
Abstract: A marine evacuation system includes an escape vessel, a platform removably engaged with the vessel, and a conduit. The conduit can enable direct passage of personnel from the facility to be evacuated to the escape vessel, while the platform and conduit can be configured to engage a stabilization system while permitting vertical movement of the platform and escape vessel caused by wave motion. The platform can optionally include movable portions that allow rotation or other horizontal movement of the escape vessel relative to the platform, such as movement caused by severe weather. The system can be stored within a container or skid, with a winch or similar mechanism for deploying and retrieving the system. The container or skid and the chute can be adapted to protect personnel from fire, heat, smoke, explosion, and other hazards.

  • Publication number: 20140165899
Abstract: A marine evacuation system includes an escape vessel, a conduit adapted to connect the escape vessel to a facility, such as a ship or an offshore platform, and a platform engaged with the escape vessel and the conduit, the platform being removable from the escape vessel to enable movement of the escape vessel away from the platform. The conduit can enable direct passage of personnel from the facility to the escape vessel, while the platform and conduit can be configured to engage a stabilization system while permitting vertical movement of the platform and escape vessel caused by wave motion. The platform can optionally include movable portions that allow rotation or other horizontal movement of the escape vessel relative to the platform, such as movement caused by severe weather.
