  • Publication number: 20050020001
Abstract: In a process for treating a workpiece such as a semiconductor wafer, a processing fluid is selectively applied or excluded from an outer peripheral-margin of at least one of the front or back sides of the workpiece. Exclusion and/or application of the processing fluid occurs by applying one or more processing fluids to the workpiece while the workpiece and a reactor holding the workpiece are spinning. The flow rate of the processing fluids, fluid pressure, and/or spin rate are used to control the extent to which the processing fluid is selectively applied or excluded from the outer peripheral margin.

  • Publication number: 20040165852
Abstract: A fiber bending apparatus for bending an optical fiber in a networking device and an optical fiber management system and method are provided. The fiber bender has an arcuate main body which is attached to the end of an optical fiber above the male connector and partially including the connector boot, bending the fiber substantially orthogonal to a direction from which the fiber is connected to a line module of the networking device, i.e., substantially parallel to the faceplate of the line module. In this way, the optical fibers are made to bend away from the chassis of the networking device, thereby preventing them from being crushed when the door of the chassis is closed. The optical fibers are also shielded from inadvertent impacts when a technician is working on the networking device. By enabling the optical fibers to be easily directed and managed, the overall fiber density of the networking device may be increased, thereby increasing its bandwidth and information processing capabilities.

  • Publication number: 20040109720
Abstract: A disposable applicator comprising a multilayered substrate containing a fluid is presented which is useful for applying fluids, particularly cosmetic lotions or creams, to an application surface, particularly a surface of a human body. The fluid is stored in a fluid storage layer and is dispensed via a flow control layer. An impermeable layer prevents the fluid from flowing back away from the application surface.

  • Patent number: 6671447
Abstract: An optical fiber organizing device is provided. The inventive fiber organizer includes a bracket preferably fittable inside an optical fiber duct of a telecommunications device and a plurality of retaining arms extending from the bracket dividing the main internal space into a plurality of internal sub-spaces. Each of the sub-spaces is adapted to retain bundles of optic fibers. The optical fiber organizer may be made from a single piece, for example, a single piece of stamped sheet metal. Alternatively, the retaining arms may be separate pieces made from resilient plastic. In either event, the retaining arms are preferably resilient and bendable to allow for intentional insertion and extraction of optical fibers while not allowing for the unintentional egress of fibers.

  • Patent number: 6487358
Abstract: An optical module blank includes a base portion, and a pair of retainers disposed on the base portion. The pair of retainers retains conduits at a predetermined location of the base portion to enable the conduits to be connected to an optical component, such as a laser module, if the optical module blank is replaced with an optical module. A line module of an optical communications equipment may be populated with one or more optical module blanks. However, if the entire line module is to be totally populated with optical module blanks, then a line module blank may be used. Such a device includes a tray portion, and a retainer portion disposed on a front section of the tray portion. The retainer portion has abutting base plates with four pairs of retainers disposed on one base plate and another four pairs of retainers disposed on the other base plate.

  • Patent number: 6068016
Abstract: This disclosure describes a modular, monolithic pump-purge system which can be integrated into a modular, monolithic fluid handling system without creating a closed tolerance loop. In particular, the pump-purge system comprises a plurality of valves mounted on a modular and monolithic manifold which can be attached to the modular, monolithic fluid handling system. At least a portion, and preferably all of the fluid transfer conduits necessary for either applying a vacuum (or other evacuation means) to a fluid handling system conduit which is to be evacuated (pumped), or for transfer of flushing fluid within a conduit (purging) are present within monolithic manifolds of the fluid handling system. The modular, monolithic manifold of the pump-purge system contains openings and fluid flow conduits which correspond with openings and fluid flow conduits of the modular, monolithic fluid handling system, to enable evacuation or flushing of a selected fluid flow conduit within the fluid handling system.

  • Patent number: 6015045
Abstract: A package for containing hygienic articles. The package has a dispensing aperture covered by a refastenably closable flap. The flap overlaps the dispensing aperture, to minimize external contamination. The aperture is made by a cut-out, leaving an opening in the material used to form the package. A separate retaining band is added to decrease the size of the opening so that the desired overlap can be maintained independent of the cut-out used to form the opening or the flap. The package is intact as presented to the user, and may completely enclose the hygienic articles after the first use of a hygienic article.

  • Patent number: 4085382
Abstract: A low level, low power, direct coupled integrated class B amplifier having a dual channel three stage preamplifier and a pair of output transistors, one for each channel. In each channel, a DC negative feedback loop connects the collector of the last stage preamplifier transistor to the base of the first stage preamplifier transistor to regulate the DC levels, and a resistive AC negative feedback loop connects the output transistor collector to the first preamplifier transistor collector to reduce the gain dependence of the channel on the current through the output transistor, thus enabling very low idle currents for the output transistors and also providing low distortion output. The resistor in each AC feedback loop is a floating tub resistor to enable it to be taken more than 0.6 volts above the battery voltage. Common mode rejection is provided for at least two of the three preamplifier transistors of each channel.

  • Patent number: 4034306
Abstract: An integrated circuit direct coupled amplifier capable of operating from a single battery cell, has: a differential amplifier input stage having an input transistor and a second transistor; an intermediate gain stage; and an output stage. Signal is fed back from the output stage to the base of the second transistor of the differential amplifier, through a negative feedback circuit. Current sources are connected as loads in the collector circuits of the input transistor of the differential amplifier and the transistor of the intermediate gain stage. The current sources are biased by separate bias sources, to improve stability. The bias source for the intermediate gain stage current source also biases a current source for the feedback circuit. A starting circuit is connected to the bias source for the intermediate gain stage and provides self starting for the current sources.
