  • Patent number: 5553484
Abstract: A supported capillary membrane separator probe that uses multiple membrane tubes in a parallel configuration connected through common manifolds to the feed and return lines thus allowing greater carrier flow rates to and from the probe resulting in reduced sample lag time from the probe to its analyzer.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 12, 1995
Date of Patent: September 10, 1996
    Assignee: The Dow Chemical Company
Inventors: William J. H. Bender, Gary D. DeLeo, Theodore N. Westlake, III, Emanuel L. Daigle, Carolyn W. Ribes
  • Patent number: 5442968
Abstract: A membrane-based fluid separations apparatus, comprising an outer vessel or outer vessel assembly having an opening defined therein, a probe member inserted through and secured in the opening and having a groove defined therein, and a tubular membrane supported in the groove in the probe member and defining first and second ends which can be placed in fluid communication with a source of a fluid from which a species is to be selectively removed and a desired destination for fluid from said membrane, respectively.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 8, 1992
Date of Patent: August 22, 1995
    Assignee: The Dow Chemical Company
Inventors: Theodore N. Westlake, III, Duane K. Wolcott, Gary D. DeLeo
  • Patent number: 5045284
Abstract: A flow injection analysis flow cell suitable for precipitation titration flow injection analysis wherein the flow cell has a chamber and a dammed space within the chamber. The carrier containing the precipitate is flowed into the dammed space and overflows it into the chamber. The flow cell is designed so that a chemical sensing probe can be inserted into the dammed space to allow precipitation titration flow injection analysis with reduced problems of flow cell plugging.
    Type: Grant
