  • Patent number: 6860573
Abstract: A light weight, weather resistant document case which may be economically formed as a single piece by either vacuum forming or injection molding and shipped, in mass, in a nested configuration for final, simple assembly by the consumer. Due to the economies of production and shipping, the inventive document case, while relatively durable, may be considered disposable and recyclable. The document case has a top cover and a bottom housing which matingly engages with one another by protruding notches and a corresponding recess. The protruding notches are arranged and configured such that draining recesses are formed when the document case is in a closed state. Specialized graphic and/or textual displays may be molded, printed, or adhered to the case.

  • Patent number: 6402498
Abstract: A machine and method for producing bristles and a support surface for the bristles, are disclosed. An extruder feeds material from a supply source to an extrusion die and a forming die. The circumferential surface of the drum includes a plurality of recesses in the desired shapes and patterns for forming the bristles. In addition, a wide shallow groove in the extrusion die is formed in the desired shape of the bristle support surface. As the fluid material is extruded between the extrusion die and the forming die, the material fills the recesses in the drum that are facing the extrusion die as well as the groove in the extrusion die. The drum rotates to expose empty recesses and to rotate the filled recesses and material in the groove away from the extrusion die. As the fluid material is rotated away from the extrusion die, it cools and solidifies.

  • Patent number: 6105587
Abstract: A flexible, disposable toothbrush and hygiene kit incorporating the same. The toothbrush comprises an elastomeric sheath which can be slipped over the user's finger. A patch of bristles is located on the closed end of the sheath. Constituent material of the sheath is thin, flexible, and capable of receiving and maintaining indicia printed in ink. The constituent material of the sheath or the bristles or both is impregnated with a flavoring agent. The toothbrush may be incorporated into a kit providing dentifrice stored in a readily frangible capsule and dental floss.

  • Patent number: 6012786
Abstract: A weather resistant, ventilated case for storing and displaying messages, papers, and diverse articles in an exterior location such as a construction site. The case has a base, a cover, a hinge connecting base and cover, and a latch for securing the cover in a closed position. These components are preferably fabricated as a unitary assembly by injection molding of an elastomer. The latch can thereby be formed as resilient components urging the cover into the closed position. The cover has a transparent portion for displaying objects stored within, such as notices posted on an information display such as tack board, peg board, chalk board, marker board, or the like. The interior includes a pocket disposed upon the rear surface of the cover, a pen and pencil holder, and a prismatic recess formed in the base, for storing rolled papers. A tab projecting from the base maintains the rolled papers upright. The cover forms a recess for grasping the cover.

  • Patent number: 5894931
Abstract: A display for displaying and dispensing brochures. The display comprises a housing and a transparent door hinged to the housing to swing forwardly when opened. A pocket is pivotally mounted to the same hinge as that pivotally supporting the door. The pocket has a rear panel including a relief, or cut away section, enabling a person to grasp brochures stored in the pocket. A spring is attached to the pin of the hinge, to the door, and to the pocket such that the door is biased into the closed position and the pocket is biased against the door. The door is hinged at the bottom, and has a forwardly turned handle at the top for opening. The housing has an outwardly projecting flange extending along the entirety of the front opening of the housing, and a drip hood. The floor or bottom wall of the housing inclines to promote drainage. In a preferred embodiment, the door and pocket are molded integrally from an elastic material enabling the pocket to be opened elastically.

  • Patent number: 5800027
Abstract: A display case for displaying and dispensing promotional literature, business cards, and the like at unattended sites. The case has a flat base which is supported on one or two nails driven into a supporting environmental surface. The base has a rain hood for protecting papers contained within the display case. A transparent or translucent door is hinged at the bottom to the base, and inclines forwardly to reveal a first or principal pocket containing brochures and a second pocket supported in piggyback fashion on the first pocket. The door has a forwardly bent tab at the top for grasping the door when opening the same. Transparent or translucent nature of the door reveals brochures contained within the display case. The second pocket is smaller, and is preferably dedicated to containing business cards. The hinge is preferably a live hinge fabricated from an elastic material, so that the hinge urges the door into a closed position.

  • Patent number: 5664851
Abstract: A weather resistant case for displaying construction permits and the like. The case has a base member and a door hinged to the base member. A tack board mounted to the rear wall of the base member supports documents being displayed. The door has a transparent window for viewing the documents. Novel features include a cylindrical internal cavity cooperatively formed between the cover and base members for holding rolled up drawings, a slot for insertion of mail or written messages, pull down latches for securing the cover, a lock for the cover, a document holder located on the inside of the cover, an external rear recess configured to steady the display case against and mount the display case on a four inch by four inch post, and a frontal area protected by being recessed, for posting notes or writing messages with ink markers. The cover hinge is a piano hinge embedded in both the cover and the base.

  • Patent number: 5623778
Abstract: A weatherized posting board assembly having a back frame and front cover of unitary construction, the interior surfaces of the back frame and front cover defining an enclosure within which documents or the like may be posted on a removable posting board. The front cover is hingedly attached to the back frame by a pair of hinge pins having a plurality of compressible ribs. The front cover includes a recess sized to receive a locking mechanism, the recess serving to inhibit tampering with the lock as well as protect the lock from the effects of the elements. The interior sidewalls of the back frame include a plurality of snap projections for releasable locking engagement with the edges of the posting board. A rectangular mounting brace projects from the rear exterior surface of the back frame generally adjacent to the perimeter of the rear surface. The mounting brace is adaptable for connection to either a post or any convenient vertical surface.

  • Patent number: 5107562
Abstract: A toothbrush of the type worn on a human finger. The toothbrush includes an inner part that is wholly received within an outer part when the toothbrush is in a stored condition prior to use. The outer part includes an upper flap and a lower flap that are releasably secured to one another about their respective peripheral borders so that when the top flap is peeled back, the bottom flap separates from the top flap and the inner part of the toothbrush, upon which are mounted the bristles of the brush, is exposed. The user of the device grasps the lower flap after it has separated from the upper flap, and this grasping maintains the toothbrush on the user's finger throughout the time the toothbrush is in use.

  • Patent number: 5068941
Abstract: A handleless toothbrush formed of an elastomeric material. The toothbrush, in a first embodiment, axially receives the distal end of a finger and has an opening that registers with a fingernail when the brush is worn properly. In a second embodiment, the brush axially receives the entire extent of a finger when fully deployed. Prior to deployment, the toothbrush is in the form of a bag member that has been turned partially inside out so that the bottom part of the bag member is encased within its folded back upper part so that the outside surfaces of both the bottom and the top parts are maintained in a substantially sterile condition. A third embodiment adds additional reverse folds and an adhesive strip covered by said folds that maintains the brush against slippage.
