Patent number: 5368055Abstract: A windproof umbrella includes a post (14); a plurality of ribs (18) extending outwardly in a radial direction from the upper end of the post; a lower canopy (20) secured on the ribs (18); a plurality of vent holes (34) therethrough; and an upper canopy (36) positioned on the lower canopy (20) and covering all lower vent holes (34). The upper canopy (36) is smaller than the lower canopy (20). Elastic fastening straps (48) secure the upper canopy (36) to the free end portions of the ribs (18) for permitting the upper canopy to elastically lift up responsive to wind. The upper canopy (36) may include at least one vent hole (76) closer to the free ends of the ribs (18) than the lower vent holes (34). A plurality of slits (44) extending inwardly from the outer edge of the upper canopy (36) may be provided, each slit (44) being in line with one rib (18).Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 1991Date of Patent: November 29, 1994Assignee: Leonard HoltzInventors: Gary D. Patent number: 5201327Abstract: An electrically conductive condom includes a generally cylindrical protective sheath having an open end for receiving a penis therein and an opposite closed end, the sheath being made from a thin, elastic, electrically conductive material which may be formed from a non-conductive elastic material having electrically conductive particles embedded therein. The electrically conductive material is preferably a thin elastomeric material with small conductive particles, such as carbon and/or silver particles, embedded therein. A reinforcing layer may be secured to the open end of the sheath. Optionally, a retaining strap may be secured to the reinforcing layer for retaining the sheath on a person, and quick release is provided for releasably securing the retaining strap about a person so as to releasably secure the sheath on the person.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 1991Date of Patent: April 13, 1993Assignee: Charles MutterperlInventor: Gary D. Patent number: 5139029Abstract: An allergy testing apparatus for testing a patient for a plurality of allergies at the same time comprises an actuating member resiliently suspended from a frame member and which is movable relative to the frame member. A plurality of spaced apart substance sources are mounted in the frame member below the actuating member. A plurality of spaced apart needles or the like are mounted on the actuating member and extend in the same direction so as to pierce the respective substance sources during movement of the actuating member toward the skin of a patient to apply the substances to the skin of a patient. According to another feature of the invention, the device is shaped like a rotatable, drum-like device, having a plurality of layers. The needles or the like are covered over by a resilient layer, and substance containing means are mounted over the resilient layer and in registration with the respective needles.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1991Date of Patent: August 18, 1992Assignee: Henry FishmanInventors: Henry Fishman, Gary D. Patent number: 4537176Abstract: A blow dart game comprises a tube having an abutment therein for abutting against a dart which is inserted into the tube, thereby preventing the dart from coming out of the tube and being ingested or swallowed by a user. The abutment may be provided directly on the tube, or on a mouthpiece which is connected to the tube at one end of the tube. The darts have suction cups at the front ends thereof and a seal for providing a substantial air seal against the inner surface of the tube. The dart further has a shock absorbing section at the forward portion thereof to enhance its adherence to non-flat and/or non-perpendicular target surfaces. An impact member is provided in some of the darts to improve adherence to the target surface.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 1983Date of Patent: August 27, 1985Assignee: Gary D. Patent number: 4192330Abstract: A holder for dental floss to be used in conjunction with a disposable cartridge on which the floss is mounted. The holder in one embodiment is an oblong handle having two spaced apart resilient substantially parallel legs which depend from a junction at one end of the handle. The one end of the handle has a bifurcated extension beyond the junction, and portions of the two legs are adjustably engaged with each other so that when the two legs are moved towards each other, the arms of the bifurcated end of the handle are stressed and spread apart from each other. An element including a length of dental floss is mounted on the bifurcated end of the handle so that when the arms are spread apart, the length of dental floss becomes rectilinear. The element typically is a cartridge having a U-shaped resilient frame. The length of dental floss extends between the opposed ends of the frame.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 1978Date of Patent: March 11, 1980Inventor: Gary D. Johnson

Patent number: 4124887Abstract: A computer controls a plurality of satellite machines in real time via a single bus comprised of undedicated, continuous transmission lines terminated at both ends in matching impedances. Each machine coupled to the bus is addressed and commanded during every computer cycle, responding only to signals directed to its address. When a machine is not electrically powered the computer provides an internal signal; computer cycles are never interrupted; continuous control of all other machines is maintained. Any number and mixed types of machines may operate from the bus simultaneously. Machines may be added or removed from bus, and machine programs may be added, removed or modified without interrupting operation of the other machines. Automatic safety reset is provided for machine or computer failure.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 1977Date of Patent: November 7, 1978Assignee: Universal Instruments CorporationInventors: Gary D.
