  • Patent number: 8359957
Abstract: A method of increasing chain saw speed while regulating feed includes a speed increaser and a hydraulic flow bleeding device. The speed increaser preferably includes a mounting plate, a drive sprocket, a driven sprocket and a drive belt. The drive sprocket is rotated with a hydraulic motor. The driven sprocket is attached to a drive shaft and driven by the drive belt. The drive shaft is inserted into a chain saw assembly, which is attached to the mounting plate. An input of the hydraulic motor is connected to an output of a hydraulic pump. An output of the hydraulic motor is connected to an input of a hydraulic cylinder and a hydraulic flow bleeding device. The speed of the chain saw may decrease as thereof cuts through a piece of wood. As the speed of the chain saw decreases, a feed rate of the hydraulic cylinder will also decrease.

  • Patent number: 7735530
Abstract: A rotary dangle head having continuous rotation includes a rotator, a continuous rotary hydraulic union and a dangle head. The rotator includes a support base, a slewing ring, a mounting plate and a ring rotator. The slewing ring includes an outer bearing ring and an inner bearing ring. The dangle head includes a retention bracket and a processing head. The processing head is pivotally retained by the retention bracket. The outer bearing ring is attached to a bottom of the support base. The inner bearing ring is attached to a top of the mounting plate. The ring rotator drives the outer bearing ring. The retention plate is attached to a bottom of the mounting plate. The continuous rotary hydraulic union is connected to hydraulically driven components mounted to the processing head.

  • Patent number: 7296602
Abstract: Tree processing equipment with two position pivot point for actuator ends includes a retention bracket, a processing head and at least one actuator. A bottom of the retention bracket is pivotally attached to the processing head. One end of the actuator is pivotally attached to the retention bracket and an actuation end is pivotally attached to the processing head. A first pivot hole and a second pivot hole are formed through the processing head or the retention bracket. A pivot pin is inserted through an actuator end and the first pivot hole for harvesting and processing in normal terrains. The pivot pin is inserted through one of the actuator ends and the second pivot hole for processing trees in mountainous terrains.

  • Patent number: 7287330
Abstract: A chain saw automatic tensioner preferably includes a base plate, a chain bar, a tensioning cylinder, a sliding block and a pusher block. The base plate includes a sliding slot that is sized to slidably receive the sliding block. The chain bar includes a substantially half oval shape that is sized to retain a cutting chain. An end of the chain bar is retained between a top of the sliding block and a bottom of the pusher block. The tensioning cylinder is mounted to the base plate opposite the sliding slot. Hydraulic oil in the tensioning cylinder forces a cylinder rod and the pusher block secured to the chain bar away from a chain sprocket and thus tensioning the cutting chain.

  • Publication number: 20030015251
Abstract: Apparatus (10) having special application for gripping and cutting tree limbs around utility lines includes a tubular insert (18) slideably received in the free end of a tubular boom (12). A plate (28) is pivoted about a first pivot axis relative to the insert (18). by a linearly extendable actuator (36) mounted within the insert (18) and mounts a first rotary actuator (38). A second rotary actuator (58) is mounted to a U-shaped mount (48) which is pivoted about a second pivot axis to the first rotary actuator (38) and rotates a working head (96) 360° about a third pivot axis. Gripping arms (78) are fixed to shafts (74) rotatably mounted in the working head (96) about axes perpendicular to the third axis, with the shafts (74) being rotated by a single linearly extendable actuator (82) extending between crank arms (80) fixed to the shafts (74). The crank arms (80) abut with an abutment (84) to prevent only one set of gripping arms (78) from moving.
