  • Publication number: 20030001380
Abstract: A method and apparatus forms stacks of paper sheets. The sheets each have areas of different thickness. The sheets also include lines of prominence formed in thinner areas of the sheets. The lines of prominence function to increase the thickness of the thinner areas of each so the sheets stack evenly.

  • Patent number: 6034704
Abstract: A thermally activated substrate prolongs the life of thermally activated images formed on the substrate by a headed imprinting head. The substrate also prolongs the life of the imprinting head. The substrate includes a substrate sheet; a coating of a thermally activated material; and, a transparent coating of a thermally resistant opaque or translucent polymer composition.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 20, 1998
Date of Patent: March 7, 2000
Inventors: Gary E. Stewart, Gregory R. Williamson
  • Patent number: 5782691
Abstract: A strip of multi-part business forms includes a plurality of primary sheets and secondary sheet each attached to a primary sheet. The primary sheets are separated by and folded along lines of weakening formed in the strip. Each secondary sheet is removable from a primary sheet to reveal a die cut and/or imprinted area on the primary sheet. The construction of the strip of business forms avoids tenting problems which are encountered by conventional strips of multi-part business forms.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 16, 1995
Date of Patent: July 21, 1998

  • Patent number: 5637369
Abstract: A business form includes a card produced by adhering conventional label stock to the back of the form, by die cutting completely through the form and partially through the label stock to produce a laminate which can be peeled from the business form, and by peeling the laminate from the business form and folding the laminate to form the card.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 24, 1995
Date of Patent: June 10, 1997
    Inventor: Gary E. Stewart
  • Patent number: 5630627
Abstract: A business form includes a removable laminate card produced by adhering a transparent piece of plastic and a layer of backing material to the imprinted back of the form and by die cutting completely through the form and transparent piece of plastic to form a card laminate peelable from the layer of backing material and from the business form.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4379573
Abstract: A business form having die cut label areas removable therefrom and an improved method for processing paper sheet substrate from a continuous supply thereof to produce the same. The method includes the steps of feeding paper substrate from the continuous supply thereof into paper processing apparatus for guiding and transporting the substrate; imprinting a business format on the paper substrate received by the processing apparatus; adhesively applying pieces of tape at spaced points on the paper substrate received by the processing apparatus to form binary areas on the substrate having greater thickness than the substrate, the binary areas including a pair of layers, a layer of tape applied in relief to the substrate, and a layer of substrate corresponding in surface area to the tape layer; and die cutting one of the layers to form at least one label area adjacent to and peelable from the other layer.

  • Patent number: 4208235
Abstract: A machine for repetitively performing processing steps at spaced points on a moving strip of paper includes apparatus for timing the repetition of the processing steps. The timing apparatus consists of two generally circular cam plates, adjustably mounted co-axially on an end of a processing roller. The cam plates are adjustably rotatable with respect to each other around the axis of rotation of the processing drum to adjustably vary the angular displacement of the cam lobe surfaces of each plate to the other. Cam follower means are provided which are responsive to the combined effective length of the superimposed cam lobe surfaces. The cam follower means actuates the processing apparatus which performs the repetitive steps on the paper passing onto and partially around the processing drum.
