Publication number: 20160290087Abstract: Method, apparatus and a system is provided for dry launching balls. One releases a ball from the stored balls, stages the ball in a staging or launching block for exposure to fluids and then injects the dropped ball into the wellbore. Fluid in the isolated staging block is removed by pump or by drainage, minimizing risk of fluid reaching stored dry balls thereabove. This method can then be repeated for subsequent balls to be dropped into the wellbore. Further, a system for reducing the fall energy of a dropped ball comprises providing one or more impact energy dampeners along a ball drop path including providing an angled sidewall of the path bore, one more elements to periodically engage a dropped ball, or to provide a liquid sump to receive a dropped ball.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 1, 2016Publication date: October 6, 2016Inventors: Boris (Bruce) P. Publication number: 20130283667Abstract: The present invention includes improvements for fishing lures. In some embodiments, a blade of a fishing lure includes a louvered hole. The louvered hole increases the blade turning action as water moves through the hole making the lure more enticing to fish resulting in more bites/strikes. The size, shape, type, color, texture and other characteristics of the blade and the overall lure are all changeable. In a second embodiment, a lure includes one or more elongated tails. In some embodiments, the elongated tails float, spin, slow down the lure and/or generate an appearance similar to a living creature. Again, the other characteristics of the lure with elongated tails are all changeable.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 27, 2013Publication date: October 31, 2013Inventors: George Yonekura, Gary Gill

Patent number: 8485259Abstract: A stand-alone frac liner that allows for fracturing of multiple lateral legs of a multilateral well on a single call out and rig-up of fracturing equipment. Tools and techniques are provided that include setting multiple stand-alone frac liners in multiple lateral legs of the multilateral well. The liners may rest in the legs physically untethered to surface equipment. Thus, a single call out of a frac string tubular and associated equipment may be used to frac the lateral legs in sequence from one leg to the next. This may be achieved without the requirement of removal of the tubular from the well or disconnect of surface fracturing equipment between the lateral fracture applications. Thus, a considerable amount of expenses associated with time and manpower may be saved.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 2010Date of Patent: July 16, 2013Assignee: Schlumberger Technology CorporationInventors: Barton Sponchia, Craig Skeates, Gary Gill, Abbas Mahdi

Patent number: 7290617Abstract: A technique to place a completion assembly in a well while maintaining the well in an underbalanced condition includes running a plug on a deployment tool to a desired depth in the well. The technique includes setting the plug in the well; retrieving the deployment tool; and running the completion assembly on a setting tool into the well to engage the plug. The technique includes releasing the plug; running the completion assembly and plug to a desired depth in the well; and setting the completion assembly in the well. The setting tool is retrieved, which includes retrieving the plug.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 2005Date of Patent: November 6, 2007Assignee: Schlumberger Technology CorporationInventors: Constantin V. Patent number: 5152487Abstract: A mounting plate enables the bracket of a conventional door closer to be removably retained to a door casing or the like. The mounting plate has a pair of tabs that define slots for slidingly receiving the flanges of the closer bracket. A stop permits entry of the closer bracket into the mounting plate slots from only one direction and also limits sliding in that direction. Bumps on the mounting plate cooperate with the closer bracket mounting holes to loosely restrain the closer bracket from sliding out of the mounting plate in the other direction. After the mounting plate is secured to the door casing or the like, the closer bracket is slid into the mounting plate slots, and the closer bracket functions in a completely normal manner. When the closer bracket must be removed to provide full utilization of the door opening, it is necessary only to slide the closer bracket out of the mounting plate.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 1991Date of Patent: October 6, 1992Assignee: Defatte & Associates, Inc.Inventors: Robert G. Patent number: 4117607Abstract: A mathematics teaching system comprises a keyboard, for entering an arithmetic problem to be solved and includes display elements to display said problem and a solution thereto. Electronic components automatically calculate the correct step-by-step solution and provide carry-borrow information to assist the student in making his calculations and performing a step-ty-step solution. Electronic circitry and components compare the calculated step-by-step solution with each step entered by the student and generate a "try again" signal upon entry of an incorrect step by the student. Equipment operable by the student is provided to erase an incorrect step. The system can be set to operate in a manual mode comprising a step-by-step solution by the student or one of two automatic modes, one of the latter comprising the displayed solution upon the entering of the problem and the second comprising the displayed step-by-step solution upon entry of a signal by the student.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 1977Date of Patent: October 3, 1978Inventor: Gary Gill
