  • Publication number: 20150206052
Abstract: For medical devices that apply radiation or other energy to patients, the way in which those devices are used may be analyzed to determine whether human factors are contributing to unnecessary doses of radiation, or to unnecessary wear-and-tear on the equipment. Medical equipment that applies energy to patients may leave a log, indicating who was operating the equipment and what protocols were used during the operation. The facility that owns the equipment may also have records, such as billing records or other institutional records. The equipment's logs, as well as the facility's records, may be analyzed in order to determine whether judgment of the technicians operating the equipment, or the physicians on whose orders the equipment is operated, are contributing to higher doses of radiation than necessary. The analysis may be used for regulatory reporting, or to correct human judgment errors, or to reduce use of consumables.

  • Patent number: 7788111
Abstract: A comprehensive database system employs common medical terms, vocabularies and identifiers in identifying organizational characteristics as well as location availability and suitability for delivering services by a particular physician to a patient with particular medical conditions via a user friendly display interface. A system for providing healthcare related information comprises a database incorporating information identifying an encompassing organization and multiple constituent organizations of the encompassing organization including a constituent organization type identifier. The database information also incorporates location information identifying multiple locations in a constituent organization available to accommodate a patient for different purposes and includes a location type identifier.

  • Patent number: 7437302
Abstract: A comprehensive database system employs common medical terms, vocabularies and identifiers in identifying organizational characteristics as well as location availability and suitability for delivering services by a particular physician to a patient with particular medical conditions via a user friendly display interface. A system for managing healthcare data including codes, terms and identifiers supports operation of a healthcare enterprise. The system includes a first database including healthcare data including elements common to a plurality of healthcare organizations and derived from a plurality of different sources. The healthcare data common elements support use of consistent terminology between the plurality of organizations. A processor provides at least a portion of the healthcare data in the first database to a second database employed by at least one of the plurality of organizations in response to user command. The second database also supports use of user selectable items of healthcare data.

  • Publication number: 20070203746
Abstract: A user interface system reduces the number of user interactions required in order data entry by providing data representing a candidate order for provision of an item or services including user modifiable values of a set of related attributes and provides further candidate alternatives in response to user selection of an attribute value and other heuristics. A user interface system enabling user selection of related order parameters identifying an order for providing an item incorporates a repository including information identifying candidate items for order and associated corresponding related order parameters. An individual item for order is associated with multiple related order parameters. A user interface processor provides data representing a display image identifying an initial complete candidate order including multiple related order parameters, in response to user entry of order associated data.
