  • Publication number: 20040149101
Abstract: A slitter knife system for facilitating efficient changing of cutting knives upon a slitting machine. The slitter knife system includes an axle member with a first passage attachable to a slitter machine, an arbor member rotatably attached about the axle member, a plurality of bores extending into a front face of the arbor member and fluidly connected to a second passage, a connector member fluidly connecting the first passage and the second passage, a stud shaft movably extending from each of the bores, and a clamp member having a plurality of guide apertures that catchably receive each stud shaft. Each stud shaft is retracted into the respective bore when pressurized fluid or gas is provided into an inlet port of the first passage thereby drawing the clamp member upon an upper knife positioned upon the arbor member.

  • Publication number: 20030188611
Abstract: A slitter knife system for facilitating efficient changing of cutting knives upon a slitting machine. The slitter knife system includes a main housing, a chuck housing movably positioned within the main housing, a plunger member movably positioned within the chuck housing, an arbor member rotatably attached about a portion of the chuck housing for receiving an upper knife, a clamp member positioned adjacent the upper knife, and an outer bearing attached to a distal portion of the plunger member. Utilizing a source of air pressure, a user is able to draw the plunger member inwardly so that the outer bearing forces the clamp member tightly against the upper knife. When replacement of the upper knife is required, the user releases the air pressure and a spring engaging the plunger member forces the same outwardly to allow for removal of the clamp member thereby providing unobstructed access to the upper knife.

  • Patent number: 6340227
Abstract: An earplug system for conveniently storing and dispensing earplugs to an individual. The earplug system includes a connector formed for removably connecting to the distal ends of the arms of glasses, a recoil device attached to the connector, a length of cord stored within and dispensed from the recoil device, and an earplug attached to the cord. The recoil device stores the length of cord during non-use of the earplug, however when the user desires to utilize the earplug within their ear they simply draw the cord from the recoil device and insert the earplug into their ear without fear of losing the earplug. In an alternative embodiment of the present invention, the recoil device is permanently positioned within the arms of the glasses for dispensing the length of cord and corresponding earplug.
