    Abstract: A bristle structure includes abrasive elements located on the shaft of the bristle and providing a cleaning action in addition to the cleaning action provided by the tip ends of the bristles. Such abrasive elements may include scales, serrations, projections ridges, multi-sided designs and other shapes. Multiple bristle structures are combined to form a novel brush assembly.
