  • Patent number: 5934681
Abstract: A method of making an expandable metal gasket by forming an expandable core and spreading the core to an open condition with a parallelogram linkage tool, an expandable gasket body, and an expandable gasket precursor. The application also discloses a method of making a semi-rigid gasket having elastomeric bridges holding a series of core segments together.

  • Patent number: 5722670
Abstract: A head gasket for sealing the head and block of an internal combustion engine includes a pair of metal cores of different coefficients of expansion, each with a facing, which gasket, in use, reduces shear forces tending to delaminate or destroy the facings.

  • Patent number: 5659132
Abstract: A gasket enclosed sensor system designed to facilitate measurement of combustion chamber parameters, and delivery of signals to a point external to the engine. In one embodiment, the system is adaptable to an internal combustion engine that includes an engine block having a cylinder bore forming a cylinder, a piston free to reciprocate within the cylinder, and a cylinder head mating with the engine block to define a combustion chamber for the cylinder.A gasket extends from the combustion chamber to a point external to the engine, the gasket substantially surrounding the combustion chamber, and including an access opening extending from the combustion chamber to a point external to the engine. A metallic sensor terminal is positioned within the access opening in the gasket, with an insulating material substantially surrounding the metallic sensor terminal. In other embodiments of the invention, various types of sensors and signal pathways are provided.

  • Patent number: 5176585
Abstract: A chain link is provided with a concave back configuration that substantiy matches the curvature of the contact surface of a chain tensioner. In the chain assembly, as the backs of the links contact the chain tensioner surface, the contact stresses are reduced as a result of the matched curvatures. The link geometry is utilized in both silent chain and roller chain assemblies.

  • Patent number: 4692130
Abstract: A load block for a chain-belt constructed of interleaved sets of links and load blocks in which the load blocks have a window with a window-bottom defining a surface relieved so that the load transferred from the links to the load blocks occurs mainly through the outermost or edge links.
