    Abstract: A reusable shipping container assembly for protecting a plurality of articles during shipping is disclosed. The container assembly includes a semi-rigid rectangular corrugated box having a top wall, a bottom wall and side walls. Within the corrugated box are a plurality of interlocking cushioned "clamps;" one such clamp per article to be shipped. Each interlocking cushioned clamp contains a convoluted foam set consisting of a pair of rectangular-shaped interlocking convoluted foam cushions. Each pair of convoluted foam cushions holds one of the articles to be shipped. Completing the cushioned clamp and enclosing the convoluted foam cushions is a cushioned sleeve having a rectangular cross section. The cushioned sleeve is adapted to snugly enclose the convoluted foam cushions on four sides and to maintain the interlocking convoluted foam cushions in place during shipping.

    Abstract: An air cushion table game includes a barrier for deflecting a puck during the play of the game when the barrier is in the down position and for capturing the puck by permitting said puck to pass under the barrier when the barrier is up at the end of the game. A plurality of targets are located at the goal end of the game. The player attempts to accumulate as large a score as possible by striking the targets at the goal end of the game with a puck driven by a striker. A coin or token operated mechanism initiates the play of the game. According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the game has four illuminated target areas each of which includes an LED/photosensor for sensing whether or not the illuminated area is hit by a puck. Alternatively, the game may comprise three targets each of which is randomly illuminated by a pair of red and green lights.

    Abstract: A package assembly and method of loading and unloading said package assembly is disclosed. The package assembly of the present invention includes moving parts to make the loading and unloading steps of a relatively delicate instrument of substantial weight easier and safe. The basic package assembly includes four component parts: an outer carton 10, an inner carton 12, a blocking panel 14, and top tray 16. In several of the embodiments, the top tray 16 is combined as a single unit with either the blocking panel 14 or the inner carton 12, thus reducing the parts count to three. In the unloading of the instrument, blocking panel 14 and tray 16 are first removed, outer carton 10 is rotated about one of its lower edges 30 to bring side 31 to rest on the floor. During the rotation of outer carton 10, inner carton 12 slides within outer carton 10 to bring the bottom of the enclosed instrument to rest on its bottom surface within the outer carton 10 allowing its easy removal by sliding it from the packaging.

    Abstract: A strut release mechanism for the forward strut of a hydrofoil craft will predictably fail when the strut experiences a predetermined impact. The failure occurs about a horizontal axis so that the strut follows a predetermined path while separating from the craft and thereby avoids impact damage to the strut or to the craft. Shear failure and tension failure structures are disclosed.

    Abstract: A combined, liner retainer and seal for use with hydrofoils in which fluid foils have trailing control flaps, keyed together. The control flaps are hingedly engaged to the trailing end of the foils and are rotated on the hinge for control purposes. The flaps are segmented to form a series and in each pair a key extends from a driving flap into a keyway in a driven flap so that the flaps are rotatable together. There is an elastic liner within the keyways and into which the key fits, the liner serving to protect the metallic surfaces of the keys and keyways. The combined seal and retainer extends between the flaps from the trailing end of the foil to the trailing edge of the flaps and has openings through which a hinge pin and the key extends. The retainer is elastic and holds the liner within the keyway so as to prevent its dislodgment and destruction.

    Abstract: An improved leading edge contour for control flaps of the type suitable for use with hydrofoil vessels and the like wherein discontinuities or gaps between the leading edge of the flap and the trailing edge of the fluid foil to which it is attached are held to a minimum; yet, wherein localized or discontinuous differential deflection of the flap leading edge and the foil trailing edge, which inherently occurs as the vessel moves through a fluid medium, does not result in interference between the two edges, thereby minimizing the problem of reduced fatigue life; and, wherein excessively large discontinuities are not required between the two edges in those edge areas where no significant differential deflection occurs, thereby significantly improving the performance characteristics of both the flap and the flap/foil combination.
