Publication number: 20240096504Abstract: Provided is a drug labeling apparatus and method that involves scanning a barcode provided to a first drug vial to obtain information related to a first drug stored by the first drug vial. Data stored by a computer-readable medium of a first RFID tag associated with the first drug vial is read. Data stored by a computer-readable medium of a second RFID tag associated with a second drug vial is also read. The data determined based on the barcode is compared to the data read from the media provided to the first and second RFID tags. It is determined that the data read from the medium provided to the first RFID tag corresponds to the first drug based on the comparison result. Label content including information derived from the barcode and information derived from the data read from the medium provided to the first RFID tag is generated.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 28, 2023Publication date: March 21, 2024Inventors: Gary Keefe, Lawrence Srnka

Publication number: 20200110563Abstract: Provided are a system and method of generating a label comprising label content based on information stored by a plurality of different databases. The system includes an interface that receives an order ID. A communication system transmits the order ID over a communication network to a remotely-located terminal, and receives order data comprising information obtained from a record in a first database. A memory device that is locally connected to the interface locally stores a second database comprising rules defining requirements of a drug labeling standard. The memory device stores insufficient information to locally interpret the order ID. A label generator applies at least one of the rules using a portion of the received order data and a portion of information locally stored in the second database to control a label printer that prints the label in compliance with the drug labeling standard.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 9, 2019Publication date: April 9, 2020Inventors: Gary KEEFE, Lawrence SRNKA

Publication number: 20200105393Abstract: Provided is a syringe reader includes a receiver comprising a releasable fastener component that cooperates with a compatible portion of the syringe to releasably couple the syringe to the syringe receiver, and maintain cooperation between the syringe and the syringe receiver during administration of the drug. A sensor is arranged adjacent to an outlet of the syringe to sense a quantity of the drug expelled from the drug container in response to exertion of a biasing force on a plunger of the syringe, and transmit a signal indicative of the sensed quantity of the drug. A barcode reader is arranged to read a barcode applied to a barrel region of the syringe installed on the syringe reader by the receiver. The barcode reader includes an optics system that emits an optical signal to interrogate the barcode.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 29, 2018Publication date: April 2, 2020Inventors: Gary Keefe, Lawrence Srnka, Michael Kolberg, Peter Botten

Publication number: 20190139638Abstract: Provided are methods and systems for tracking a drug. Information associated with a drug is received from at least a code reader that scans a code associated with a drug container, and a drug server that receives information from a drug storage device storing an inventory of drugs. The drug container associated with the code scanned by the code reader is selected from the inventory of drugs. A result of a comparison of information included in: (i) the information obtained in response to reading the computer-readable code, and (ii) the portion of the drug removal information received from the drug server is obtained. Issuance of an alert is controlled based on the result of the comparison indicating that a conflict exists.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 19, 2018Publication date: May 9, 2019Inventors: Gary KEEFE, Lawrence SRNKA, Ross GOODMAN, Stephen MUCHER, Edward KUBIEZ

Publication number: 20190035497Abstract: Provided is a remote barcode reader that is to communicate with a terminal in a medical network. The remote barcode reader includes an optical barcode scanner that transmits a signal indicative of a barcode in response to interrogating the barcode. A non-transitory computer-readable memory stores, at least temporarily, information obtained in response to reading the barcode. A network interface communicates wirelessly over a wireless communication channel with a remote device in a medical network to obtain information pertaining to a drug that is identifiable from the information obtained in response to reading the barcode. A processor initiates the transmission of a communication based on the information obtained from the barcode to the remote device, and delays transmitting at least a portion of the information obtained from the barcode until at least a time when a response including information related to the drug is received from the remote device.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 16, 2017Publication date: January 31, 2019Inventors: Michael KOLBERG, Michael GRABEL, Gary KEEFE, Ross GOODMAN, Stephen MUCHER, Lawrence SRNKA
