Abstract: A device and method for atomic clock based synchronization for image devices is provided. An image device provided herein includes: an image component configured to one of provide or acquire images; an atomic accuracy clock synchronizable with an atomic clock; an interface configured to receive data indicative of one or more times for one of providing or acquiring the images; and a controller. The controller is configured to control the image component to provide or acquire the images at the one or more times synchronized with the atomic accuracy clock.

Abstract: A method of reducing a storage size of a digital image file without affecting display quality of the digital image, comprising the steps of splitting the image into a first component and a second component; encoding the first component as a lossy compression component; encoding the second component as a lossless transparency component; and associating the lossy compression component and the lossless transparency component.
