Patent number: 6571972Abstract: A lid is shown for use with a portable tank or intermediate bulk container, or the like, having a threaded collar defining a port opening. The lid includes a generally circular top wall and a generally cylindrical sidewall connected to the top wall and having an inner threaded surface for threading to the threaded collar to close the port opening, in use. First and second circular openings through the top wall define first and second bung openings. First and second cylindrical collars extend downwardly from the top wall surrounding the respective first and second openings. Each cylindrical collar has a threaded inner wall for receiving a removable closure to selectively close the first and second bung openings.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1998Date of Patent: June 3, 2003Assignee: Hoover Materials Handling Group, Inc.Inventors: Gary L. Patent number: 6244459Abstract: A bulk packaging container is constructed of all polymeric materials. The container is in the form of a rigid plastic intermediate bulk container or portable tank. The container comprises a base of an injection molded polymeric material having a bottom adapted to be supported from beneath and an opposite top surface to define a height of approximately six inches and including plural entry slots for forklift or pallet jack entry. A bottle of a rotationally molded polymeric material has an outer wall defining an interior storage space. The outer wall comprises a bottom wall received on the base top and a top wall including means for supporting a base of another bulk packaging container. The bottle is adapted to support weight of the other bulk packaging container.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 1999Date of Patent: June 12, 2001Assignee: Hoover Materials Handling Group, Inc.Inventors: Gary L. Bouc, Michael Faltys

Patent number: 5746343Abstract: A container assembly for transporting and storing liquids and semi-liquids, the container assembly including a rigid frame supporting a collapsible fabric bag which contains the liquid. The bag is hung at its upper end on tubes in the frame that are threaded through loops in the upper ends of the bag side walls. An elastically deformable support plate is in the frame for cushioning the shock of the bag during transport. The frame is collapsible to enable collapse of the bag after it is emptied.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 1996Date of Patent: May 5, 1998Assignee: Hoover Group, Inc.Inventors: David L. Waltke, Gary L. Bouc

Patent number: 5447340Abstract: An electrically-insulated pipe coupling includes a first tubular metal body, a second tubular metal body which has a cylindrical section and which has molded onto it an electrically-insulating covering extending over the end of the body and a portion of the cylindrical section, a coupling member for securing the two metal bodies together at their respective ends and which is disposed over the juncture of the two metal bodies in such a manner that a portion of the electrically-insulating covering molded onto the second tubular body extends beyond the coupling member, and an electrically-insulating barrier extending outwardly from the cylindrical section of the second tubular body and disposed about the portion of the electrically insulating covering extending beyond the coupling member.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1994Date of Patent: September 5, 1995Assignee: Mueller Co.Inventors: Robert E. Sands, Gary L. Bouc

Patent number: 4717178Abstract: A flangible ring, for securing together the adjacent flanged ends of the upper and lower barrel sections of a fire hydrant, has two weakening grooves therein instead of the usual one. One of the grooves is conventional and located in one face of the ring just inside the circular array of bolt holes in the ring. The other weakening groove is formed in the other face of the ring and is of greater mean diameter but of smaller, width and depth than the first groove. Preferably the sides of the other groove are straight in radial section, disposed at an angle of the order of 60.degree. to the face of the ring and an extension of the inner side thereof intersects the intersection of the bottom of the larger groove with a side thereof.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 1986Date of Patent: January 5, 1988Assignee: Mueller Co.Inventors: Joseph L. Daghe, Gary L. Bouc, Carl E. Floren

Patent number: 4690019Abstract: A tamperproof fire hydrant which can only be operated with use of a special operating means or tool thus preventing the opening of the hydrant by unauthorized persons for unauthorized use. The hydrant is provided with the usual polygonal end portion of the rotatable operating nut extending out of the top closure member. A dome shaped cap is mounted on the polygonal end portion of the operating nut for free rotation relative thereto, the dome shaped cap having a skirt with the lower edge thereof spaced from the tubular hold down nut or top closure member of the fire hydrant to provide a limited access space to the polygonal end portion for reception of the special operating means. The special operating means is also capable of being used as a tool to remove the nozzle cap off of the usual nozzle and to install the hose coupling on the nozzle.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 1985Date of Patent: September 1, 1987Assignee: Mueller Co.Inventors: Joseph L.
