  • Publication number: 20120050072
Abstract: Disclosed are a metal fm pipe foundation apparatus and method for airport approach lighting and method of making, using, and installing a metal fin pipe foundation for airport approach lighting. The metal fin pipe foundation (MFPF) of the present invention requires a small 16 inch diameter hole to be drilled approximately 8 feet deep. The MFPF, in one aspect, consists of 16 inch diameter schedule 30 pipe 6 feet long with two (2) ? inch thick flat plate fins which are 6 feet in length, and which are welded to the 16 inch schedule 30 pipe. A top plate 5 feet in length, 1 foot 6 inches in width, and ¾ inch thick is attached by welding the top plate to the top of the 16 inch pipe and the top of the ? inch fins After the MFPF of the present invention is completely fabricated, it is dipped in hot galvanizing to protect the raw steel. This coating of galvanizing protects the MFPF for 75 years. The MFPF of the present invention can be fabricated off site and shipped to the airport ready for installation.

  • Patent number: 7621098
Abstract: Vertical segmented support and media consolidation plates swingably mounted about pivot points on the vertical segmented support, incorporate media-facing surfaces swingable outwardly from the vertical support means into the surrounding media. Varying segmented lengths form the segmented vertical segmented support. The novel segmented apparatus and installation method further provide for a centering collar 113, an anchor positioning means at level force pivoting plates 194, and pivoting plates 194 positioned 40-50 degrees from vertical. A frusto-cone 197 dx equal to a predetermined distance of one-half inch forms gap 204. The novel method installs an anchor and foundation device in the earth by preparing a hole in the earth, lowering into the hole a segmented anchor or foundation device having swingable media facing plates, and applying force to swing the plates outwardly into the surrounding media.

  • Patent number: 7347103
Abstract: Pile testing apparatus and method apply static compressive forces on a pile to be tested for load bearing capacity. Retractable and reusable reaction anchor assemblies are installed into the ground for pile testing and then are retrieved from the ground after completion of the pile testing and are reused from one pile test site to another. The invention operates to receive an equal and opposite reaction force on an I-beam and provide at least two retractable and reusable reaction anchor assemblies installed into the ground at a depth significantly less than required with conventional pile testing methods. The I-beam is braced by the two retractable and reusable reaction anchor assemblies and held stationary in counter-action against the opposite reaction force on the I-beam. The pile testing apparatus and method of the present invention reduce costs considerably and can be used immediately as contrasted to conventional methods using concrete.
