    Abstract: The monomer, trimethyl ammonium ethyl methacrylate methosulfate, is purified by passing same through a column of activated charcoal having a mean particle diameter of from about 0.5 mm to aboug 1.2 mm, the height to diameter ratio of the column being from about 3 to about 12 to 1. Monomer so treated can be polymerized to higher molecular weight polymers.
