Patent number: 11912476Abstract: A child-resistant closure having inner and outer caps cooperating as a nested shell is contemplated. Downward force applied to the closure engages a series of cooperating lugs and detents to engage the child resistant feature, while thinned walls and cooperating, ramped skirts on the shells' interfacing surfaces to improve the hoop strength along a predefined circumference to avoid stripping/disengagement of the threads on the closure and container neck. An optional tamper evident ring may also be provided, as well as a combustion resistant vent formed in the top panel of the inner shell.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 2019Date of Patent: February 27, 2024Assignee: RIEKE LLCInventors: Anthony M. Publication number: 20160257462Abstract: A closure assembly for use on a container neck finish has an inner cap which threadedly engages the neck finish and an outer cap which is received by the inner cap. Torque lugs on the outer cap cooperate with abutment formations on the inner cap such that rotation of the outer cap drives the inner cap onto the neck finish. Cooperative engagement between the two caps is achieved by downward axial movement of the outer cap. An arrangement of ramp sections on the inner cap and an arrangement of interior lugs on the outer cap provide an assist feature helping to pull the outer cap in the axially downward direction. Another feature of the closure assembly includes a spring-biasing relationship between the inner and outer caps. The inner cap also includes an abutment structure which cooperates with the container to limit drop test deformation of the container.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 17, 2016Publication date: September 8, 2016Inventors: Gary M. Baughman, Simon C. Knouse

Patent number: 9346658Abstract: A unitary funnel which is injection-molded is used for dispensing a flowable product, such as a fuel additive, into a receptacle provided with a normally-closed capless fitment. The funnel includes an inlet portion for receiving the flowable product, an inserting end portion for insertion into the capless fitment and a body portion having a tapered hollow interior and extending between the inlet portion and the inserting end portion. The inserting end portion includes a skirt which is constructed and arranged for proper engagement with the normally-closed capless fitment so as to open that capless fitment and allow the flowable product to be dispensed into the receptacle.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2014Date of Patent: May 24, 2016Assignee: Rieke CorporationInventor: Gary M. Publication number: 20160075484Abstract: A single-piece, molded plastic closure is disclosed and is constructed and arranged for assembly into a container lid opening. The closure includes an annular side wall having a lid engaging portion and an end panel. The end panel is configured with an annular recessed section and an annular frustoconical section which surrounds the annular recessed section. When a vacuum is applied to the surface of the lid for movement of the container the lid may bow and affect the degree of engagement between the closure and the lid opening. The addition of the end panel offsets the effect of the vacuum and enhances the degree of engagement between the closure and the opening so as to prevent dislodgement of the closure during vacuum head movement of the container.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 3, 2015Publication date: March 17, 2016Inventor: Gary M. Baughman

Publication number: 20150190825Abstract: A sprayer for dispensing a flowable product is disclosed and includes two (2) primary components including a housing and a valve insert. The housing includes a proximal end for connection to a supply of liquid and a separate attachment structure for connection to a product container, the product container including a flowable product which is intended to mix with the supply of liquid. A valve insert is assembled into the housing and the valve insert is movable in a rotary fashion relative to the housing in order to select one (1) of three (3) settings. The three (3) settings include an “OFF” position, a “light” product mix ratio setting and a “heavy” product mix ratio setting.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 18, 2015Publication date: July 9, 2015Inventors: Armin Arminak, Gary M. Patent number: 8695840Abstract: A closure assembly for a container including an internally-threaded annular flange, an externally-threaded closure plug that is received by the annular flange, and an annular gasket positioned between the annular flange and the closure plug for establishing a sealed interface. The container includes a container end panel that is formed over and around a portion of the annular flange and provides an inner axial wall that is positioned between the annular flange and the annular gasket. The clearance between the closing plug and the inner axial wall relative to the size of the annular gasket determines the degree of radial compression of the annular gasket as the plug is threaded into the flange. A radial lip of the plug is designed to contact an upper surface of the container end panel that is formed over the flange as a visual indication when the required tightening torque of the plug within the flange has been reached.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2011Date of Patent: April 15, 2014Assignee: Rieke CorporationInventor: Gary M.
