  • Patent number: 6000877
Abstract: An asphaltic concrete or paving material includes at least 5 percent, and preferably from 5 to 20 percent, of granular recycled plastic, which supplements or replaces the rock aggregate component of the mixture. The material produces a structurally superior paving material and longer lived roadbed. The plastic may include any and all residual classes of recyclable plastic, including thermosetting plastics and other plastics having little to no current widespread utility. The material produces roadbeds of higher strength with less total asphalt thickness and having greater water impermeability, and is most useful for all layers below the surface layer. The recyclable plastic component of the material is preferably a mixture of all recyclable classes 3 through 7, or of those materials from such classes from which potentially more valuable recyclable materials have been selectively removed.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: December 14, 1999
    Assignee: Plasphalt Project Ltd. Co.

The paving product is preferably formed by a process of shredding or mechanically granulating used and industrial waste plastic to a no.

  • Patent number: 5101697
Abstract: A power driven electric reversible variable speed screwdriver is provided with a collated screwstrip feeder having a barrel which slides axially with respect to the blade and housing of a power screwdriver gun, is rotatably axially supported on the tool head of the gun in axial alignment with the gun blade, is locked by structure on the housing against rotation on the tool head. The orifice of the barrel is placeable in abutment with a sheet of drywall material to be fastened as the blade and gun housing reciprocates from an extended position relative to the barrel, at which a screw is fed through an opening in the barrel side into the barrel bore, to a retracted position relative to the barrel, at which the tip of the blade extends to an position beyond the barrel orifice to a position determined by rotary adjustment of a link connected to the tool head. The barrel and blade are selectively latchable in the retracted position to permit the screwdriver to be used in uncollated, single screw applications.

  • Patent number: 4778094
Abstract: A nail and dimpler driving apparatus for a nailing gun is provided having a barrel with a short hardened metal dimpler which slides longitudinally in the end of the barrel and comprises a hardened metal piston having a broadened face at its end extending symmetrically on opposite sides of a metal plunger which extends longitudinally from the lower center of the piston face in alignment with an orifice through the dimpler. The piston reciprocates to impact a shoulder at the inner end of the dimpler. The barrel has a longitudinal rail extending along the top of its bore to maintain the piston and dimpler in angular alignment and to guide nails fed into the bore from an opening located in the side of the barrel between the tip of the retracted plunger and the dimpler shoulder. The rail has a longitudinal groove in its lower edge to aid in guiding the nails and in providing clearance for the residue of web material used to join the nails in flexible collated strips.
