  • Publication number: 20200321604
Abstract: An electrochemical device that includes an anode electrode having sintered active material, in electronic communication with an anode current collector. The device includes a cathode electrode having sintered active material, in electronic communication with a cathode current collector. The device also includes a separator located between the anode electrode and the cathode electrode, and further includes an electrolyte in ionic contact with the anode electrode, cathode electrode, and separator, thereby filling porous spaces within the anode electrode and cathode electrode. The electrochemical device provides for the ability of increasing the energy density at the electrode and cell level and provides for reducing the size and weight of battery cells and packs.

  • Publication number: 20190043636
Abstract: Methods and systems for rapidly characterizing electrochemically active particle dispersions are provided. In various embodiments, the methods and systems advantageously reduce the system complexity to identify what fraction of a cell resistance may be due to the active material.

  • Patent number: 8591774
Abstract: A process for preparing transition metal particles with a gradient in composition from the core of the particle to the outer layers. In particular, the process involves contacting a first transition metal solution with a second transition metal solution to form a transition metal source solution under specific process conditions. The transition metal particles with desired composition gradients are precipitated from the transition metal source solution. The transition metal particles may be combined with metals such as lithium to form cathode active metal oxides.
