Publication number: 20090172891Abstract: A method and apparatus for cleaning objects in an automatic cleaning appliance is provided that includes the steps of introducing a load of objects into a wash zone of the automatic cleaning appliance, applying a wash liquor and at least one of electromagnetic, chemical and mechanical energy to the load of objects in the wash zone to remove soil from the load of objects, and subsequently applying an oxidizing agent to the load of objects through the medium of a fluid applied to the load of objects. The oxidizing agent may be generated in association with the automatic cleaning appliance.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 12, 2009Publication date: July 9, 2009Applicant: WHIRLPOOL CORPORATIONInventors: JOEL A. Publication number: 20020151281Abstract: A front end module (10, 30) for a low weight, low power communications system. The front end module (10) utilizes RF microelectromechanical (MEM) switches (16, 18, 20, 110, 112, 156) for dynamic reconfiguration capability. Components (12, 14, 22, 24, 26, 28) are shared for both the transmit and receive modes, thereby reducing the number of components required by the system (10, 30).Type: ApplicationFiled: May 30, 2002Publication date: October 17, 2002Applicant: Hughes Electronics CorporationInventors: Hossein Izadpanah, Robert R. Patent number: 6380822Abstract: A satellite signal routing system includes a satellite using one or more waveguide switches for routing M-inputs to M of N-outputs. A waveguide switch includes a first waveguide, used as a stationary input coupled to a rotary joint. A joint rotation device, such as a motor, rotates the rotary joint. A rotary waveguide is attached to the rotary joint and also rotates. Two or more second waveguides, used as stationary outputs, are coupled to the rotary waveguide through a non-contacting waveguide. A controller controls the joint rotation device to rotate the rotary joint to align the rotary waveguide with one of the second waveguides.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 2000Date of Patent: April 30, 2002Assignee: Hughes Electronics CorporationInventor: Gary M. Patent number: 5571276Abstract: A channel member is provided which is configured to be held on the frame of an appliance. The frame includes a lip perpendicular to a first portion of the frame with a flange extending perpendicular to the lip parallel to and in the direction of the first portion of the frame. At least one tab projects out of the first portion of the frame. The channel member is configured to receive a retaining strip having a projecting portion. The channel member has a channel portion and a back portion. The back portion extends between the lip and the tab and has a portion retainingly held by the tab. The channel portion comprises a first resilient leg and a second resilient leg. The first and second legs are spaced apart to form a channel for receiving the projecting portion of the retaining strip. At least one of the first and second legs has a detent formed thereon to retainingly engage the projection.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1995Date of Patent: November 5, 1996Assignee: Whirlpool CorporationInventors: Duane M. Kobos, Gary M. Lindgren, Joseph T. Ferencevich

Patent number: 5420421Abstract: A method and apparatus for non-uniformity compensation for infrared focal plane arrays in an infrared imaging device (10) including a calibration operation and a correction operation. The calibration operation measures the response (24) generated by the detector elements (14) in the focal plane array (16) to a wide range of known signal flux levels of infrared radiation (22) produced by a uniform black body under controlled conditions. The responses (24) are then stored as a digital video signal (27) in a look-up table memory (38). The correction operation achieves the near real-time compensation of a second response of the detector element (14) to the signal flux level of infrared radiation (22) produced by objects in the field of view surveyed by the imaging device (10) by comparing the second response to the stored digital video signals (27) and interpolates the second response to a corrected digital video output signal (31).Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 1994Date of Patent: May 30, 1995Assignee: Hughes Aircraft CompanyInventors: Gary M.
