  • Patent number: 9055268
Abstract: Multi-tier recording to enable, for example, seek-back unique copy recording may be provided. First, content may be recorded to a time-shift buffer. Recording instructions may be received and a virtual recorder corresponding to a user may be instantiated. Next, content from the time-shift buffer may be obtained according to the received recording instructions. Then the obtained content may be saved to the instantiated virtual recorder.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 4, 2013
Date of Patent: June 9, 2015
    Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.
Inventors: Mahesh Viveganandhan, Vivek Kansal, Gary M. Springer

  • Publication number: 20140164477
Abstract: A method is provided in one example embodiment and includes receiving an inbound request from a client; retrieving state information for a targeted application; modifying the inbound request with the state information from a data store; forwarding the inbound request that was modified to an application running on a server instance; and providing a response to the client based on information provided by the application.

  • Patent number: 8341667
Abstract: Advertising driven switched digital video may be provided. A plurality of content streams may be transmitted. In response to determining that an available transmission bandwidth has increased, at least one new content stream may be provided according to a bandwidth-based priority list. In response to determining that the available transmission bandwidth has decreased, at least one content stream may be removed according to the bandwidth-based priority list.

  • Patent number: 8305887
Abstract: Techniques are provide herein to determine the amount of allocated and unutilized bandwidth for services already provided on each of a plurality of quadrature amplitude modulator (QAM) channels. One of the plurality of QAM channels is selected as a selected QAM channel to maximize capacity for future service requests based on a determination that the selected QAM channel can have bandwidth deallocated to support a service at a second bandwidth greater than a first bandwidth. A sufficient amount of the allocated and unutilized bandwidth is deallocated for services provided at the first bandwidth on the selected QAM channel such that the service at the second bandwidth is thereafter supportable on the selected QAM.

  • Patent number: 7773501
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards systems and methods of routing payload data in a communications system. Specifically, the payload data is routed using a source address. The destination node(s) utilize a dynamically-stored look-up table indicating the source address when the payload data is to be dropped at that node(s).
