  • Publication number: 20070090166
Abstract: Microfluidic devices for cell culturing and methods for using the same are disclosed. One device includes a substrate and membrane. The substrate includes a reservoir in fluid communication with a passage. A bio-compatible fluid may be added to the reservoir and passage. The reservoir is configured to receive and retain at least a portion of a cell mass. The membrane acts as a barrier to evaporation of the bio-compatible fluid from the passage. A cover fluid may be added to cover the bio-compatible fluid to prevent evaporation of the bio-compatible fluid.

  • Publication number: 20070094261
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products manage access to and update warehouse data associated with one or multiple online data systems. A security role is established for each user of warehouse operation functions associated with the online data system. A method involves examining warehouse data and updating a status of warehouse operations, detecting a security role of a current user accessing the data system, and rendering warehouse operation functions and the status via an interface. The method further involves receiving a selection of one of the warehouse operation functions, determining whether the security role of the current user authorizes access to the warehouse operation function selected, and prohibiting access to the warehouse operation function selected in response to determining the security role does not authorize access to the selected warehouse operation function.

  • Patent number: 7207588
Abstract: Children's ride-on vehicle assemblies having leading and trailing vehicles that are removably coupled together by a connection apparatus. The leading vehicle is an independently operable ride-on vehicle having a drive assembly that is selectively configured between a plurality of drive configurations, such as responsive to user inputs via user input devices. The assembly further includes a detection system adapted to detect whether or not the connection apparatus is in its coupled configuration and to restrict the plurality of drive configurations responsive thereto. This restriction may be automatic responsive to coupling of the leading and trailing vehicles together, and it may be made regardless of user inputs that otherwise would select and/or enable one of the restricted drive configurations.

  • Patent number: 7207091
Abstract: A jewelry clasp with top and bottom sections, each section having a bore to receive a magnet, and each section having an interlocking surface on the perimeter of the bore. An eyelet is positioned on the perimeter of each section. The interlocking surfaces consist of mating camber protrusions that will lift and separate the top and bottom sections when the sections are rotated in one direction by the eyelets. One magnet is longer than the other to provide structural resistance to separation at the camber protrusions by opposing force exerted through the eyelets. In another embodiment, a steel tube is positioned in the bore of one section to encase the magnets to redirect magnetic flux and provide additional structural resistance against opposing force through the eyelets. Additional steel shielding can be used to reduce magnetic flux emanating from the clasp. Neodymium magnets coated with gold or silver are preferred.

  • Patent number: 7207111
Abstract: Method for manufacturing endodontic instruments having either helical or non-helical flutes with hard surfaces and resilient cutting edges by either an EDM or ECM process, wherein material is removed from the instrument blank in the desired flute pattern. The EDM or ECM process disintegrates the surface material, and as it cools, at least a portion of the removed material re-deposits onto the surface being machined to form a recast layer having a surface hardness that is at least about 15% greater than the hardness of the material forming the instrument blank.

  • Patent number: 7209319
Abstract: A disk drive includes a disk drive housing having a breather hole formed through the disk drive housing. A breather filter is configured for attachment to the disk drive housing and for limiting and filtering airflow into the disk drive housing. The breather filter includes a breather filter housing portion having a breather filter housing surface that defines a filter housing hole. The filter housing hole is configured to align with the breather hole formed in the disk drive housing. A filter portion is fitted within the filter housing portion. A leveling layer is provided that defines a first leveling layer surface and a second leveling layer surface. The leveling layer is formed of a material that is impermeable to air. A first adhesive layer is provided to adhere the breather filter housing surface to the first leveling layer surface. A second adhesive layer 40 is also provided to adhere the second leveling layer surface to the disk drive housing.

  • Patent number: 7209920
Abstract: A flux indicator is utilized as a low-overhead consistency check for a shared resource such as a data structure, and provides a mechanism for determining both whether a data structure has or is currently in the process of being modified. In connection with attempts to modify the data structure, the flux indicator is updated from a first state to a second state prior to modifying the data structure, and thereafter updated to a third state after modifying the data structure, Copies of the flux indicator are then obtained both before and after attempting to obtain a copy of data from the data structure. The validity of the copy of the data is ensured when the first copy of the flux indicator does not indicate that the data structure is in the progress of being modified and the first and second copies of the flux indicator have the same state.

  • Patent number: 7208890
Abstract: A particle accelerator system, including apparatuses and methods, that is configurable through repositioning of shorting devices therein to operate at different charged particle beam currents while maintaining optimum transfer of electromagnetic power from electromagnetic waves to one or more accelerating sections thereof, and reducing or eliminating reflections of electromagnetic waves. The particle accelerator system includes at least two accelerating sections and an electromagnetic drive subsystem with portions of the electromagnetic drive subsystem being interposed physically between the accelerating sections, thereby making the particle accelerator system compact. The electromagnetic drive subsystem includes, among other components, a 3 dB waveguide hybrid junction having a coupling window in a narrow wall thereof which is shared by the junction's rectangular-shaped waveguides.

  • Patent number: 7210072
Abstract: When a PROGRAM CODE FLUSH signal is generated in a target processor during a test procedure, a sync marker is generated in a program counter trace stream. The sync marker includes a plurality of packets, the packets identifying that the sync marker is has been generated as a result of the PROGRAM CODE FLUSH signal. The program code flush sync marker identifies the absolute program counter address at the time of the generation of the PROGRAM CODE FLUSH signal and relates the PROGRAM CODE FLUSH signal sync marker to a timing trace stream. The PROGRAM CODE FLUSH signal is generated at the transition between the program (primary) code instructions being removed from the pipeline flattener and the interrupt service routine (secondary) code instructions being removed from the pipeline flattener.

  • Patent number: 7209795
Abstract: A method is provided for synchronizing the playback of a digital audio broadcast on a plurality of network output devices by inserting a control track pulse in an audio stream of the digital audio broadcast. The method includes the steps of outputting a first control track pulse as part of an audio signal which has unique identifying characteristics and is regularly occurring, outputting a second control track pulse so that the time between the first and second control track pulses must be significantly greater than the latency between sending and receiving devices, and coordinating play of audio at the time of the occurrence of the transmission of the second control track pulse assuring the simultaneous output of the audio signal from multiple devices. The control track pulses have a value unique from any other portion of the audio stream. The digital audio broadcast from multiple receivers does not present to a listener any audible delay or echo effect.
