  • Publication number: 20030196705
Abstract: A liquid propellant management device for placement in a liquid storage tank adjacent an outlet of the storage tank to substantially reduce or eliminate the formation of a dip and vortex in the liquid of the tank, as well as prevent vapor ingestion into the outlet, as the liquid drains out through the outlet. The liquid propellant management device has a first member adapted to suppress the formation of a vortex of a liquid exiting the storage tank. A plate is affixed generally perpendicular to the first member, wherein the plate is adapted to suppress vapor ingestion into the outlet by reducing a dip in a surface level of the liquid leaving the tank. A second member is affixed to the second side of the plate. The second member ensures that the plate is wet with liquid and assists in positioning bubbles away from the outlet.

  • Publication number: 20030196609
Abstract: A gas-fired water heater is provided with a combustion shutoff system which precludes further combustion within the water heater's combustion chamber in response to a combustion temperature therein reaching a predetermined level correlated to and indicative of a predetermined, undesirably high concentration of carbon monoxide present in the combustion chamber. In various illustrated embodiments thereof, the combustion shutoff system is operative to terminate further combustion air inflow to the combustion chamber, or terminate further fuel flow to the burner portion of the water heater.

  • Publication number: 20030198129
Abstract: A mixer apparatus for use with a vessel centered about a longitudinal axis is disclosed. The mixer has a tubular blade which: defines a central head axis; has a first end and a second end spaced from the first end along the head axis; and tapers from the first end to the second end. The inner surface of the blade and the second end define an inside blade diameter “ID” and the outer surface of the blade and the first end define an outer blade diameter “OD”. The blade is positioned within and coaxial to the vessel. A scotch yoke, operatively connected to the blade by a shaft, effects reciprocating longitudinal movement of the blade through a stroke “S”, with a duration “T” for each cycle, wherein 175≲0.36×OD2/ID2×S/T≲250 when OD, ID and55 S are expressed in inches, and T is expressed in minutes.

  • Publication number: 20030199236
Abstract: Method for manufacturing endodontic instruments having either helical or non-helical flutes. A method is provided for forming superelastic endodontic instruments having helical flutes, wherein a wire of superelastic material is formed into an instrument blank, and before twisting, the superelastic alloy is brought to an annealed state comprising a phase structure including a rhombohedral phase alone or in combination with austenite and/or martensite, or a combination of martensite and austenite. In this annealed state, the instrument blank is twisted at low temperature, for example less than about 100° C., and advantageously at ambient temperature to the final desired twisted configuration. The twisted instrument is then heat treated and rapidly quenched to a superelastic condition.

  • Publication number: 20030200167
Abstract: The present embodiments are provided to facilitate the automatic trading of spreads in a fast and accurate manner. One or more market data feeds that contain market information for tradeable objects are received at an exchange. A spread data feed is generated in response to the market data feeds and from one or more spread setting parameters, which can be entered by a user. The spread data feed is preferably displayed in a spread window as bid and ask quantities associated with an axis or scale of prices. The user can enter orders in the spread window and the legs will be automatically worked to achieve, or attempt to achieve, the spread. In addition, other tools disclosed herein may be utilized to assist the user in making such trades.

  • Publication number: 20030198255
Abstract: A method is provided for synchronizing the playback of a digital audio broadcast on a plurality of network output devices by inserting an audio waveform sample in an audio stream of the digital audio broadcast. The method includes the steps of outputting a first unique signal as part of an audio signal which has unique identifying characteristics and is regularly occurring, outputting a second unique signal so that the time between the first and second unique signals must be significantly greater than the latency between sending and receiving devices, and coordinating play of audio by an audio waveform sample assuring the simultaneous output of the audio signal from multiple devices. An algorithm in hardware, software, or a combination of the two identifies the audio waveform sample in the audio stream. The digital audio broadcast from multiple receivers does not present to a listener any audible delay or echo effect.

  • Publication number: 20030197067
Abstract: A nozzle assembly for a fuel injector having a needle valve for controlling an injector valve orifice, the needle valve being subjected to a spring force and a fluid pressure force. The needle valve registers with a fuel delivery orifice and is movable into and out of engagement with a valve seat surrounding the orifice. The needle valve is normally biased to a valve closing position by a spring located in a spring cage. The spring cage becomes pressurized upon movement of the needle valve toward the needle valve open position, whereby a positive pressure is maintained in the spring chamber throughout the fuel injection event. A calibrated bleed orifice allows the spring chamber pressure to decay to a low value between injection events.

  • Publication number: 20030196352
Abstract: An orthopedic walking boot promotes rapid healing of diabetic foot ulcerations by lowering the maximum peak pressure imposed upon the foot. The walker has a hard unyielding shell which is designed for walking. The shell closely and rigidly supports a mid-sole in a foot-shaped bed. The mid-sole has a foot-shaped cavity with rounded sides adapted to form resilient support for the heel, arch and sides of a foot in addition to the bottom of a foot. A conformable inner-sole is adapted to fit over the foot-shaped cavity in the mid-sole and be compressed in response to foot pressure between the sides and bottom of the foot and the sides and bottom of the foot-shaped cavity in the mid-sole thereby compensating for small differences between the shape of the foot and the shape of the cavity.

  • Publication number: 20030198254
Abstract: A method is provided for synchronizing the playback of a digital audio broadcast on a plurality of network output devices by inserting a control track pulse in an audio stream of the digital audio broadcast. The method includes the steps of outputting a first control track pulse as part of an audio signal which has unique identifying characteristics and is regularly occurring, outputting a second control track pulse so that the time between the first and second control track pulses must be significantly greater than the latency between sending and receiving devices, and coordinating play of audio at the time of the occurrence of the transmission of the second control track pulse assuring the simultaneous output of the audio signal from multiple devices. The control track pulses have a value unique from any other portion of the audio stream. The digital audio broadcast from multiple receivers does not present to a listener any audible delay or echo effect.
