  • Patent number: 6286439
Abstract: A side support for a hanging storage unit includes a rigid panel formed from either a molded polymer-based material or a cast metallic material. A mounting element, such as a mounting bracket, is embedded in and protrudes from the rigid panel to allow hanging of the side support from a support structure.

  • Patent number: 5542219
Abstract: An apparatus for leveling and aligning wall panels. The apparatus includes upper and lower interlocking tab assemblies, each positioned on the vertical edge of each wall panel. Each tab assembly includes a pair of vertically and horizontally offset tabs, which mate with complementary tabs on an adjoining wall panel. The invention allows wall panels to be joined and aligned, and also permits adjacent panels to be pivotally oriented relative to one another about a vertical axis.

  • Patent number: 5537795
Abstract: A hinge and rail connection system for joining wall panels. The system includes a flexible hinge and a rail assembly, the flexible hinge having channels for receiving complementary flanges on rails which are coupled to the wall panels. The hinge includes a pair of pivotal hinge members which can be articulated about a vertical axis at any selective angular relationship to form office partitions having a near infinite variety of shapes and layouts. Additionally, the design of the connection system provide enhanced aesthetics by eliminating the mechanical appearance of hang-on support bracket slots located in the rails.

  • Patent number: 5424497
Abstract: A movable, prefabricated wall panel having a rigid rectangular frame, a septum core disposed within the region bounded and confined by the frame, and adjacent layers of fibrous sound absorbing material is disclosed herein. The septum core is formed from a central layer of honeycombed-shaped paper sandwiched between two steel skins, and is fixedly confined to the center of the interior frame perimeter by elongated channels of the perimeter frame. The combined shape forms a central cavity on opposing sides of the septum core allowing relatively thick inner layers of sound absorbing fibrous material, preferably fiberglass, to be placed within the panel adjacent to each steel skin. Outer layers of sound absorbing fibrous material are placed adjacent to the inner layers, and the outer layers are covered with fabric or similar material.

  • Patent number: 5405114
Abstract: An improved attachment system for mounting a furniture component, such as a work surface member, on the slotted vertical rails of a wall panel. The component connection system is comprised of a hook carrying component support adapted to be secured to a slotted vertical rail of a wall panel and releasably engageable with a component catch-track mechanism. The component support contains a latch-rail for securing a component such as a work surface by cooperating with the catch-track mechanism of the work surface. The component catch-track mechanism, when mounted on the component support, automatically engages the component support latch-rail member to fixedly align, draw together and connect both the component support and component catch-track mechanism. The improved attachment system method also eliminates the movement or disturbance of portable wall panel structures during the installation process.
