Abstract: A cincture is worn on and protects the upper torso of an individual. The cincture is spaced apart from the neck of the individual and contacts the individual's shoulder at points intermediate the individual's neck and distal end of the collarbone to protect the individual's neck from injury and to facilitate transmitting strike forces over the posterior of the shoulder and upper back of the individual.

Abstract: A thigh pad protector that includes superiorly connected and individually ventilated pad protectors for the anterior (front) and lateral (side) of the thigh. The anterior thigh protector portion is constructed to fit into an inside pocket in the garment normally worn outside the protector (such as a pair of football pants or athletic girdle). The fixation of the anterior thigh protector portion within the inside pocket of the garment provides support to both the anterior thigh protector portion and the superiorly connected lateral thigh protector portion about the thigh. The fact that the two distinct thigh protectors are connected only at their superior (upper) ends allows the protectors to conform to the natural curvature of the thighs with normal garment compression and to remain in conformity with the legs through the full range of muscular motion (contraction and relaxation) without constriction or decreased mobility.

Abstract: A thigh guard is pivotably connected to a knee (or shin) guard and the user's clothing is provided with an inside pocket to receive a plate on the thigh guard to hold the assembly in place on his leg. In the preferred embodiment only one side has a pivot hinge, and inflatable pad means permits the device to be fitted to persons with legs of various size (thigh size).

Abstract: A thigh and knee protector includes separate guards hingedly connected coaxially with the knee joint. The thigh guard has a plate that fits into an inside pocket in the garment normally worn outside the protector (such as a pair of football pants). The plate can be selectively positioned on the protector's thigh guard to assure precisely locating the protector's hinge joint structure relative to the actual knee joint.
