    Abstract: A mask and harness system for use in providing breathing oxygen and protection from pollutants for the eyes and respiratory system as might be encountered in high altitude aviation environments. In one preferred embodiment, the mask system has a face seal, a soft flexible lens, a pneumatically-actuated harness, and a regulator with microphone to control the flow of oxygen and to facilitate communications in aircraft flight decks and other aircraft compartments.     Abstract: A passenger oxygen mask assembly (93) is provided which is adapted to be supported on an existing mask-supporting fixture (16). The assembly (93) includes a hanger (30, 64) having a fixture attachment portion (32, 66) and a mask-retaining portion (34, 68), as well as a conventional oxygen mask (92). The attachment portion (32, 66) has a lower leg (36, 70) presenting a recess (42, 76) adapted to receive the mounting post (18) of a fixture (16), as well as upstanding support arms (50-56, 78, 80). The mask-retaining portion (34, 68) includes segments (58, 60, 88) supported by the arms (50-56, 78, 80). When the hanger (30, 64) is mounted on a fixture (16), a mask (92) may be inserted into the hanger (30, 64) and is releasably retained thereby.

    Abstract: A box (10) for safe stowage of a flight crew oxygen mask (16) having an inflatable harness (35) and a switch-on/switch-off comfort adjustment system is provided which ensures that the mask (16) is properly stowed only when the switch member (40) controlling the comfort adjustment system is shifted to the switch-off or "emergency" position. The box (10) is preferably designed for mounting on the cockpit floor within close proximity to the intended wearer for one-handed retrieval of the mask (16) from within the box (10) and includes walls (24-32) defining an enclosure for receiving the mask (16), an apertured top cover (18) permitting a portion of the mask (16) to protrude therethrough for ready access by the wearer, and two inwardly extending abutment elements (20, 22) attached to opposing walls (24, 26) of the box.

    Abstract: A microphone signal attenuating breathing mask body having a gas port for inhalation of a gas to the wearer in a flow stream therethrough. A demand microphone is mounted to the mask and is coupled to an electromagnetic switch responsive to a predetermined magnetic field for switching from an actuation to an attenuation position to block transmission of sound from the microphone. An air vane is pivotally mounted on the mask body and is formed with an impingement pad positioned in the flow stream and mounts an activating magnet disposed adjacent the switch. The vane is normally disposed in a normal position such that the magnet is in an activating position and the electromagnetic switch is in the actuation position such that the microphone is active for transmission of audio signals.
