Abstract: A removable reusable insulating unit for insulating an exposed section of an insulated pipe system is disclosed. The insulating unit has a hollow body portion with insulating walls for enveloping the exposed section of the pipe system. The body portion has a parting line along its length to permit opening thereof so that the unit may be wrapped around the exposed section of the pipe system. The body portion is made of a sufficiently flexible insulating material to permitt such spreading apart of the body portion at its parting line. Fasteners are provided for securing the unit closed with the insulating walls abutting one another along the parting line. Each opening of the unit, through which a pipe or the like of the system may extend, has a substantially more rigid insulating material which snugly envelopes the system to form an insulative blanket for the exposed portion.
