Patent number: 10161086Abstract: An illuminated paver comprises a body including a top part having a decorative outer surface and a separate bottom part attached to the top part. The body houses a light source to be electrically connected to an associated external power source. An inner surface of at least one of the top part and the bottom part includes a plurality of strengthening ribs extending between the top and bottom parts of the body. The strengthening ribs are configured to reflect light emitted from the light source so as to randomly disperse light passing through the decorative outer surface. An electrical cord wrap is provided on an outer surface the bottom part and includes a plurality of cord receiving recesses.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2016Date of Patent: December 25, 2018Assignee: Alpha International, Inc.Inventors: Carolyn Marie McNeeley, Nick Stanca, James Edward Szpak, Gary R. Patent number: 9635950Abstract: A point-of-sale demonstration system includes a display system for viewing the underside of the plunger matrix mattress allowing a person sitting or lying on the mattress to readily view the impression created by their body weight on the plungers. The display system includes a camera positioned to image the underside of the mattress and a monitor (display screen) positioned for viewing by a person lying on the mattress so that they can see the deflection in the bottom of the plungers caused by their own weight on the mattress. Seeing the image of the downwardly displaced plungers immediately conveys the operation of the plunger matrix mattress to the viewer. The system may also be configured to capture individual frames and video images, store the images, transmit the images, and edit as desired, for example by zooming, cropping, changing the speed of the video, and so forth.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 2014Date of Patent: May 2, 2017Assignee: DREAMWELL, LTD.Inventors: Craig Saunders, John E. Spirk, Lindsey Tufts-Junior, William E. Rabbitt, Gary R. Stephan

Patent number: 9314108Abstract: A plunger matrix mattress includes a number of independently movable foam padded plungers that form an array of independently movable points of support. This type of mattress significantly improves body contouring over conventional coil spring mattress designs. The plunger matrix mattress also allows substantial airflow through the mattress improving over conventional foam mattress designs. Different plungers may have different spring and dampening characteristics to allow different plungers and plunger zones of the mattress to exhibit different firmness levels. Individual plungers may be removed and replaced independently, for example to replace the plunger with another plunger with a different spring characteristic, and make other types of adjustments and repairs.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 2013Date of Patent: April 19, 2016Assignee: DREAMWELL, LTD.Inventors: Michael S. DeFranks, Rahul Kirtikar, J. Evan Spirk, Gary R. Stephan, Craig Saunders

Patent number: 9226591Abstract: A plunger for a matrix mattress includes a pin guide having a flange and a guide body extending from the flange. A pin slidably received within the pin guide includes a flange located above the flange of the pin guide and a shaft extending from the flange through the guide body. The flange of the pin carries a deformable head. A tension spring has a first end fixed to the guide body and a second end located below the guide body positioned to receive a bottom end of the pin shaft. The spring is configured to resiliently stretch with downward motion of the pin with respect to the pin guide. A dampening device captured around the shaft of the pin between the flange of the pin and the flange of the pin guide resiliently deforms with downward motion of the pin with respect to the pin guide.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 2013Date of Patent: January 5, 2016Assignee: DREAMWELL, LTD.Inventors: Michael S. DeFranks, Rahul Kirtikar, Craig Saunders, J. Evan Spirk, Lindsey Tufts, Gary R. Stephan, William E. Rabbitt

Patent number: 9119478Abstract: A dual-spring plunger for a plunger matrix mattress assembly includes an outer tension spring with an upper end fixed to an outer spring mount of a plunger guide body and a lower end located below the guide body positioned to receive a bottom end of a pin of the plunger. An inner tension spring nested within the outer tension spring has an upper end fixed to the inner spring mount of the guide body and a lower end having a spur slidably captured within a slot through a fin of the shaft of the pin. The outer spring is tensioned while the inner spring is not tensioned during a first portion of downward movement of the pin relative to the pin guide, whereas both the outer and the inner spring are tensioned during a second portion of downward movement of the pin relative to the pin guide.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 2013Date of Patent: September 1, 2015Assignee: DREAMWELL, LTD.Inventors: Michael S. DeFranks, Rahul Kirtikar, William E. Rabbitt, Gary R. Stephan
