  • Patent number: 9835467
Abstract: A method and system for generating a location identifier using a location code and a grid coordinate. The location code corresponds to a defined geographical area, such as a postal code or an area code. A grid coordinate can be determined based on destination location information, such as an address, a GPS-determined position, or other reference to a specific physical location. The location identifier is combined with the location code to generate a location identifier, which can be encoded in a computer readable format and placed on items for use in a distribution network. The location identifier can be used to facilitate domestic or international distribution of items using a common format or addressing scheme. The domestic and foreign distribution networks read and interpret location identifiers in order to deliver items.

  • Publication number: 20080033875
Abstract: Exemplary systems and methods eliminate a check or a remittance stub from a bill payment process, which may simplify the bill payment process for consumers, providers, and check processing systems. A delivery service provider receives a delivery item at a delivery processing center. It is determined that an account associated with the delivery item is designated for electronic payment. • Publication number: 20080005043
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing notification to box rental users regarding the arrival of mail to their box. In one implementation, the system comprises delivery item processing equipment for sorting and processing the delivery item. The system may also comprise optical equipment associated with the processing equipment for capturing information regarding the delivery item and a server to store the captured information. Further, the system may include a user interface to supply the captured information to the user upon receipt of a user request.

  • Publication number: 20070138270
Abstract: An interrogating and processing system and method is described. In one embodiment, a wireless communication device interrogates an information source, having a barcode or tag, and wirelessly transmits data indicative of the information source. The interrogator can be built into or adjunct to the wireless communication device. An automated processing subsystem receives the transmitted data and identifies an item corresponding to the data. A fulfillment subsystem effects delivery of the item to a destination. In another embodiment, there is a coupon code scanning and processing system and method. A wireless computing device having an interrogator reads a coupon code. An automated processing subsystem receives the corresponding data and provides a benefit associated with the coupon. The benefit can be a discount on a product or service. Alternatively, at least a portion of the coupon including a code is displayed on a screen of the computing device for processing at a point of sale terminal.
