  • Patent number: 5239017
Abstract: A continuous process for the production of pressure sensitive adhesive mass compositions and adhesive elements which exhibit excellent properties with respect to a variety of substrates, which is non-toxic and non-sensitizing. The element exhibits high cohesive strength so that its integrity is maintained on removal from the substrate leaving no residues and is highly flexible so that total confirmation with the underlying shape of the substrate is maintained. The adhesive composition includes the hydrolysis/esterification product of a methyl vinyl ether/maleic anhydride copolymer with an hydroxylated compound. In this invention, the adhesive element is prepared by microwave heating of a mixture of the copolymer and hydroxylated compound, preferably with a surfactant, in the presence of water.

  • Patent number: 5182323
Abstract: A pressure sensitive hot melt adhesive contains thermoplastic rubber such as styrene isoprene copolymer, a copolymer of vinylpyrrolidone and vinylacetate, fatty acid and, usually, tackifying resin. The composition is water soluble or water dispersible which facilitates removal of labels by washing and recycling of scrap material in label production. The composition gives better properties, especially peel strength, than other water-soluble or dispersible hot melt compositions.

  • Patent number: 5166694
Abstract: Position location processing using a series of processing routines for enhanced position location in a hyperbolic ranging system adapted to more accurately indicate the position of mobile transmitters within the system. These routines incorporate data in an overdetermined system to refine the position estimate and speed up computation time. The processing utilizes all data received and filters out data caused by radio propagation measurement error that contributes to overall position error. It selects the optimum subset of data to process prior to performing time-intensive mathematical operations which results in a substantial reduction in computation time, allowing for many more overall position computations per second. The advantages of the present position location processing include its ability to incorporate all data received to reduce the overall position error. Processing filters that provide for data extraction and position verification enhance the accuracy and reliability of the position estimate.

  • Patent number: 5106914
Abstract: An adhesive element which exhibits excellent properties with respect to a variety of substrates, such as, skin, glass, fabric, paper, plastic, and other non-porous surfaces which is non-toxic, and non-sensitizing. The element exhibits high cohesive strength so that its integrity is maintained on removal from the substrate leaving no residues and is highly flexible so that total confirmation with the underlying shape of the substrate is maintained. The adhesive composition is the hydrolysis or esterification product of a methylvinyl ether/maleic anhydride co-polymer with an hydroxylated compound. Methods for preparation of the inventive adhesive element are disclosed.
