  • Patent number: 5581894
Abstract: A carpet strip cutter assembly having an elongated base plate, a vertically oriented elongated left side wall connected to the base plate, and an elongated cantilevered support arm perpendicularly oriented to the left side wall. The cantilevered support arm is reciprocally mounted in the left side wall. A blade mounting assembly is secured to the front end of the cantilevered support arm and it has a blade extending downwardly therefrom. The blade is oriented above a line of grooves in the top surface of the base plate and removably received in one of the grooves. There is structure for vertically adjusting the height of the cantilevered support arm so that various heights of carpet can be cut into strips of carpet having predetermined widths.

  • Patent number: 5415725
Abstract: Apparatus for removing glued-down carpet and it has a frame having a pair of laterally spaced side walls connected together by a plurality of cross members. A motor that is connected to a gear box is mounted on one of the cross members. The frame is mounted on a pair of rear wheels. A pair of drive rollers, have their opposite ends journaled in said respective side walls. A pressure roller extends between the side walls and it is spaced a predetermined vertical distance below said drive rollers. The pressure roller is journaled between a pair of leverage arms that are pivotally mounted on said side walls. A handle is connected to the top end of said leverage arms. A tab portion of glued-down carpet to be removed is threaded over the pressure roller and under the drive rollers. A downward pressure on the handle causes the leverage arms to pivot the pressure roller upwardly toward the drive rollers.

  • Patent number: 5347719
Abstract: A device for lifting and cutting glued-down carpet that is made of three primary components, a handle, a blade mounting plate and a rod mounting sleeve. The blade mounting plate is secured to the front end of the handle and the rod mounting sleeve is secured to the bottom of the two previous components. A blade cover plate secures a razor blade between itself and the blade mounting plate with the bottom edge of the razor blade captured in a groove that extends along the top surface of the carpet lifting rod. The carpet lifting rod is longitudinally adjustable within the rod mounting sleeve. In operation, the pointed front end of the carpet lifting rod is driven along the top surface of the concrete below the bottom surface of the carpet thereby lifting it up to a position where it is cut by the razor blade as the device is continuously pushed along beneath the carpet.
