Patent number: 11920536Abstract: A fuel pump system for aircraft includes an auxiliary fuel pump in-line with the primary pump, and an electric motor driving the auxiliary fuel pump at an operational motor speed. The system includes an electric control circuit (ECC) and a pressure sensor to regulate the speed of the electric motor based on the output pressure from the sensor to maintain a constant predetermined output pressure. The system may have additional fault mitigation circuitry configured to automatically switch from a processor-controlled to a fixed voltage as a source of power driving the electric motor at either a regulated speed or a constant fixed speed, respectively. The system may include a switch having user-selectable operational modes, including ECC-controlled mode and a high boost mode selectable if the ECC fails. In high boost mode, the ECC is bypassed to drive the electric motor at a fixed safe speed.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 2022Date of Patent: March 5, 2024Inventors: Gary Schultz, Conrad P. Patent number: 9744791Abstract: A booklet processing mechanism is described that includes a spine guidance system that is configured to hold the area adjacent to the spine of an opened, multiple sheet booklet against a backing plate during processing on a page of the booklet, for example by a laser or during vision verification. The spine guidance system is configured so that it resides closely adjacent to the spine of the booklet, below the field of lasing by the laser or other processing operation, so that it does not interfere with the processing operation.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2013Date of Patent: August 29, 2017Assignee: ENTRUST DATACARD CORPORATIONInventors: Gary Schultze, Dennis J. Warwick

Patent number: 9346308Abstract: A booklet processing mechanism is described that includes a booklet guide and clamp system that is configured to act as the guide during entry and exit of the booklet into and from the mechanism, as well as clamp and hold the booklet in its proper position during a processing operation, for example by a laser or during vision verification. The booklet guide and clamp system is moveable between a first position for guiding an upper, free edge of an opened booklet and a second position where the upper, free edge is clamped against a backing plate. At the second, clamping position, the mechanism is out of the way so that it does not interfere with the processing operation. Because the guiding and clamping functions are combined into one mechanism, only one actuator and one sensor are needed for the guiding and clamping functions.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2013Date of Patent: May 24, 2016Assignee: ENTRUST DATACARD CORPORATIONInventors: Michael Lind, Gary Schultze, Dennis J. Patent number: 9247512Abstract: Systems and methods are presented that offer significant improvements in the performance of time division duplex (TDD) systems by utilizing an adaptive synchronous protocol. Conventional TDD systems are limited because data is transmitted during discreet and limited intervals of time, and because TDD transceivers may not simultaneously transmit and receive for reasons of insufficiently separated frequencies and limited receiver selectivity. Typically, TDD systems have significant latency due to the time to change from transmission to reception and the propagation delay time. By synchronizing the master nodes and the one or more remotes and by scheduling the traffic loads between these nodes, remote nodes may begin transmitting before the master node is finished with its transmission, and vice versa. This method reduces latency and improves the frame efficiency. Further, the frame efficiency may improve as the distance from the master node to the remote node increases.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2011Date of Patent: January 26, 2016Assignee: Ubiquiti NetworksInventors: Gary Schultz, Paul Odlyzko

Patent number: 7865324Abstract: An apparatus and method for identifying the position of a magnetic shaft are provided. N field sensors are adjacently positioned at fixed locations relative to the shaft's periodic field, corresponding to 180/N relative phase shifts. A table provides N>2 predetermined signal models and a pre-identified position associated with each. An interpolator compares a representation of the N measured sensor signals to at least two predetermined models to generate a correction signal that provides another pre-identified position. The correction signal depends on N sensors for every position of the shaft. The correction signal is used to incrementally choose said another pre-identified position from the table as an approximate position of the shaft in an iterative process to find the minimum correction signal and identify the position.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2010Date of Patent: January 4, 2011Assignee: Moog Inc.Inventors: Paul M. Lindberg, Gary Schultze, Philip Hollingsworth

Publication number: 20090202098Abstract: An earbud is disclosed for use in a user's ear. The earbud includes an ear pad shaped to engage the concha of the ear and an audio driver coupled to the ear pad. When the earbud is installed in the user's ear the ear pad substantially occludes, or closes up the concha of the user's ear. Thus ambient noise is significantly attenuated before reaching the user's ear canal. Also, the earbud is supported primarily by the ear pad resting in the concha.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 13, 2008Publication date: August 13, 2009Inventors: Eric Chan, Diane Elabidi, Bernice Cramer, Gary Schultz
