  • Patent number: 7347461
Abstract: An electronic egress system includes at least one door, each door having a handle defining an interior area, an actuator and an exit control assembly including a switch assembly located substantially within the handle's interior. The handle is movable relative to the actuator such that motion of the handle relative the actuator changes the switch assembly from a first switch state to a second switch state.

Date of Patent: March 25, 2008
    Assignee: C.R. Laurence Company, Inc.
    Inventor: Gary Sprague
  • Patent number: 7302780
Abstract: A modular rail system for holding a panel includes individual components that can be mixed and matched making it easy to customize to fit any length and provides for the use of an array of accent materials. The modular rail system includes at least first and second columns and first and second rails extending between the columns, wherein the columns and first rail each includes a recess for securing one edge of the panel.

  • Publication number: 20060284154
Abstract: A component railing system and method of use is provided in which railings may be installed with less time and customization over known systems. In particular, two embodiments of the present invention allow mounting of a cap rail to a post or a bracket. The resulting configurations allow quick installation or replacement of panels, which are supported by the cap rail and base shoe.

  • Publication number: 20060277716
Abstract: A pivot door hinge assembly includes a clamp housing, wedge, and base plate. The clamp housing is preferably generally U-shaped and has an interior channel. The interior channel is tapered such that one end of the interior channel is wider than a second end. The wedge is located in the interior channel of the clamp housing and in between one side of the glass door and an inner surface of the clamp housing. The wedge is also tapered. The set screw is located at one end of the clamp housing and is used to urge the wedge from that end toward the other end. As the wedge moves away from the wider end of the interior channel, this causes the wedge to move closer to the glass door and apply greater pressure against the glass door and an interior side of the clamp housing. This is because the tapered interior channel forces the wedge away from one side of the clamp housing toward the other side. A base plate having a raised portion may also be used.

  • Patent number: 6912818
Abstract: A rail system for holding a panel, such as a plate glass pane, in a door and/or wall partition. The rail system includes a housing and a clamp member having a wedging geometry so that when the clamp member is actuated with respect to the housing in a first direction, at least a portion of the clamp member will move in a clamping direction, which is different than the first direction to clamp the panel.

  • Publication number: 20040094973
Abstract: A displaceable door handle system is provided in which a door handle is displaceably mounted to a door body and is shaped so that the pivot point(s) are sufficient operational distances from an actuation surface such that the force necessary to be applied to the actuation surface to release the door is less than a desired parameter. In a preferred embodiment, a generally horizontal surface is provided on the door handle, with two generally vertical surfaces provided on either side of the actuation surface. The pivot mounts for the door handle are provided in the vicinity of the respective ends of the vertical surfaces.
