  • Publication number: 20100229500
Abstract: A door comprising first and second door skins secured to each other to form a cavity therebetween filled with expended foam. Each of the door skins has an opening therethrough for receiving a glass insert and a flange portion. Distal ends of the flange portions of the first and second door skins engage each other in an overlapping relationship by the expansion pressure of the expanded foam. The door further comprises a glazing rim member having a leg portion snap-locked between the flange portions of the first and second door skins. The method for assembling the door comprises the steps of filling the cavity between the door skins with foam material, then inserting the glass insert through the openings in the door skins and mounting the glazing rim member to the first door skin by snap-locking between the flange portions of the first and second door skins.

  • Patent number: 7786895
Abstract: A multi-user vehicle telemetric system comprises vehicle interface units (VIUs), wireless gateways, and one or more central hosts. The VIU in a vehicle collects data over the OBD-II bus and stores the data in the form of DataPoint Records (DPRs) in an on-board non-volatile (e.g. flash) memory. When the VIU is within wireless range of a gateway, it establishes a WiFi (802.11b) connection with the gateway, and submits stored DPRs to the gateway, to be stored in permanent storage at the gateway. Although the DPRs are stored in permanent storage on the gateway, they are deleted from permanent storage on the gateway after they are successfully uploaded to the central hosts. The gateways are shared, and communicate with the central hosts over a wide area network (WAN). When a gateway has gathered new DPRs from a VIU, it submits these to selected central hosts.

  • Patent number: 7774130
Abstract: A method of determining fuel consumption in a vehicle through the OBDII bus is described. The fuel consumption is determined by using mass air flow (MAF) sensor data or manifold air pressure (MAP) sensor data, and obtaining and applying long term and short term fuel trim values for the vehicle, which respectively characterize deviations of air-to-fuel stoichiometry in the vehicle due to aging and vehicle's current operating conditions to determine the corrected fuel consumption in the vehicle. For MAP based method, an independent determining of Volumetric Efficiency of a vehicle's engine is also provided. The method is further enhanced by providing various sensing patterns for various sensor data, which depend on the rate of change of the respective data.

  • Patent number: 7774001
Abstract: A portable communication device includes an application program for determining crowdedness of a desired location. The portable communication device executes the application program to communicate within a wireless communication system for requesting mobile critical mass information for at least one desired location. The mobile critical mass information for the at least one desired location is received and converted into a user-understandable format. The converted mobile critical mass information is displayed as crowdedness information on a display of the portable communication device. Portable communication device users can seek out or avoid crowds depending on their preference.

  • Publication number: 20100134271
Abstract: A hazard warning apparatus for use in motor vehicles enabling a driver observing a road hazard to warn other drivers. One embodiment is provided with at least one light preferably an array of lights arranged as a hazard warning signal mounted a body associated of the vehicle in a forward facing direction in order to warn oncoming traffic when illuminated. A power supply circuit provides an intermittently pulsed power signal to the array of lights for a limited period of time in response to an input signal and then automatically turns off. An input switch located proximate the driver when engaged communicates with the power supply causing the array of lights to be intermittently pulsed. In another embodiment the hazard warning apparatus communicates with other vehicles providing a hazard warning via a wireless signal.

  • Publication number: 20090325110
Abstract: A stream of hot oxygen is formed by providing a duct and a fuel lance movable axially within the duct, flowing gaseous fuel out of the lance into the duct, mixing it in the duct with gaseous oxidant, flowing the mixture out of the duct into an atmosphere which is hot enough that it ignites the mixture without aid of an ignition source other than said atmosphere, and combusting said mixture in a flame that does not extend into said duct; then moving the lance so its fuel outlet approaches the duct exit orifice so that the base of said flame moves inside said duct to the fuel outlet; and then moving the lance to draw the fuel outlet and the flame attached thereto away from the exit orifice into the duct; and increasing the flow rate of gaseous oxidant in said duct, so that combustion of fuel within the duct heats uncombusted oxygen which emerges as a stream of hot oxidant.
