  • Patent number: 10431375
Abstract: A hardened inductive device and systems and methods for protecting the inductive device from impact is provided. The inductive device is hardened with protective coating and/or an armor steel housing. The hardened inductive device is protected from impact by an object such as a bullet and leakage of dielectric fluid is prevented. Acoustic and vibration sensors are provided to detect the presence and impact, respectively, of an object in relation to the inductive device housing. The measurements of the acoustic and vibration sensors are compared to thresholds for sending alarms to the network control center and initiating shut-down and other sequences to protect the active part. The acoustic sensor results are utilized to determine the location of origin of the projectile.

  • Patent number: 10426643
Abstract: An open frame prosthesis is formed with looped end terminations at its proximal and distal ends. At one end of the prosthesis, the filaments or strands are welded together in pairs to form strand couplings. A plurality of loop segments are connected to the strand couplings, one loop segment for each pair of adjacent strand couplings. In one version of the prosthesis, strands at the opposite end are bent to form looped ends. In another version, loop segments are connected to pairs of strand couplings at both ends of the prosthesis. The loop segments can be connected to the couplings by welding, fusion bonds, or tubes, which are either crimped or heat shrunk.

  • Patent number: 10428704
Abstract: An anti-rotation oil filter system to prevent inadvertent release of the oil filter from a lubrication system is provided. The system includes a ratchet gear attached to one of either the oil filter or the engine's oil filter attachment base. In both embodiments, a spring-loaded ratchet release pawl is provided to engage the ratchet and to thereby hold the filter in place against the attachment base until such time as the filter needs to be changed. Where the ratchet gear is fitted to the filter, a ratchet release pawl is associated with the engine's oil filter attachment base. The teeth of the ratchet ring gear extend outwardly from the filter. Alternatively, where the ratchet gear is fitted to the engine's filter attachment base, a ratchet release pawl is associated with the filter. Regardless of the embodiment, the ratchet gear and pawl arrangement restricts filter rotation to maintain clamp load.

  • Patent number: 10430122
Abstract: A storage unit (SU) includes an interface configured to interface and communicate with a dispersed storage network (DSN), a memory that stores operational instructions, and processing circuitry operably coupled to the interface and to the memory. The processing circuitry is configured to execute the operational instructions to perform various operations and functions. The SU, of a first SU set, receives a partially encoded slice request to restore a set of encoded data slices (EDSs) that are based on first dispersed storage error coding function parameters. The SU generates a decode threshold number of partially EDSs based on the first and second dispersed storage error coding function parameters. The SU then outputs the decode threshold number of partially EDSs to a second SU set to undergo selective combination respectively to generate new EDSs for storage within the SUs of the second decode threshold number of SUs of the second SU set.

  • Patent number: 10432964
Abstract: Innovations for signaling state of a decoded picture buffer (“DPB”) and reference picture lists (“RPLs”). In example implementations, rather than rely on internal state of a decoder to manage and update DPB and RPLs, state information about the DPB and RPLs is explicitly signaled. This permits a decoder to determine which pictures are expected to be available for reference from the signaled state information. For example, an encoder determines state information that identifies which pictures are available for use as reference pictures (optionally considering feedback information from a decoder about which pictures are available). The encoder sets syntax elements that represent the state information. In doing so, the encoder sets identifying information for a long-term reference picture (“LTRP”), where the identifying information is a value of picture order count least significant bits for the LTRB. The encoder then outputs the syntax elements as part of a bitstream.

  • Patent number: 10431280
Abstract: A ferroelectric opening switch is enabled by controlled polarization switching via nucleation in a ferroelectric material, such as BaTiO3, Pb(Zr,Ti)O3, LiNbO3, LiTaO3, or variants thereof. For example, nucleation sites can be provided by mechanical seeding, grain boundaries, or optical illumination. The invention can be used as an opening switch in large scale pulsed-power systems. However, the switch can also be used in compact pulsed-power systems (e.g., as drivers for high power microwave systems), as passive fault limiters for high voltage dc (HVDC) systems, and/or in other high power applications.
