  • Publication number: 20030152523
Abstract: A dry particulate pharmaceutical composition for pulmonary administration is prepared by spray-drying a hydrophobic active agent (e.g. declomethasone dipropionate) with a small quantity of pharmaceutically acceptable hydrophilic polymer (e.g. poly (vinyl) alcohol). This mitigates aggregation of the particles of active agent, which otherwise limits the desirable find particles dose available.

  • Publication number: 20030151588
Abstract: A method and apparatus for smoothing cursor motion on a display is provided. In an embodiment of the invention, an indication of an amount of movement of an operation instrumentality of a pointing device in a first direction is received from the pointing device. At a reporting time, a predetermined portion of the amount of movement of the pointing device in the first direction is reported to a computer. In at least one subsequent reporting time, a remainder of the amount of the movement in the first direction is reported. Preferably, at least two reports are sent to the computer for each time an indication of the amount of movement of the pointing device is received from the pointing device. In addition to smoothing of cursor motion, higher rates of movement of the operation instrumentality can be reported for a given bit length of the reports as the total amount of movement is divided into separate smaller reports.

  • Publication number: 20030152328
Abstract: An assembly and an optical element have fiducials for alignment of multiple beam paths during fabrication of an optical device. In an assembly including a substrate with machined grooves for optical fibers, a fiducial can be a carbon-coated fiber or other object disposed in one of the grooves. In an assembly including a collimator array, a fiducial can be an opaque collimator lens. Alternatively, photolithographic processes can provide the required positional accuracy for fiducials on the assembly and/or the optical element. During alignment, a computer-controllable process can use machine vision or distance measurements to identify the position and the orientation of the assembly relative to the optical element. Based on the identified position and orientation, the process moves the assembly to the target position and orientation that provide sufficient optical power flow through the optical element for a fine alignment process.

  • Publication number: 20030151692
Abstract: A translator demodulates a received digital television signal so as to produce a digital data stream, a symbol clock, and a byte clock, wherein the symbol clock and the byte clock are corrupted by phase noise. The digital data stream is written into a buffer in response to the corrupted byte clock. The corrupted symbol clock is applied to a frequency/phase locked loop having a narrowband loop filter. The frequency/phase locked loop produces a regenerated symbol clock having substantially no phase noise. The digital data stream is read from the buffer in response to the regenerated symbol clock. The digital data stream read from the buffer and the regenerated symbol clock are applied to a modulator for re-broadcasting of the received digital television signal.
