  • Patent number: 8405489
Abstract: A hands-free dental or surgical light system (150) is disclosed which includes a master unit (152) worn by the doctor and one or more subservient units (154) to be worn by an assistant or assistants. Each of the units (152, 154) has a light (12) which can be at full brightness, dimmed or off. The master unit (152) has a transmitter (156) that communicates with a receiver (158) on the subservient unit (154) so that the light (12) on the subservient unit (154) does not accidentally cure a light sensitive material. For example, when in range the master unit (152) can control the subservient unit (154) to turn the light on the subservient unit (154) dim or off when the light 12 on the master unit (152) is dimmed, and dim the light on the subservient unit (154) when the light 12 on the master unit (152) is off. When the master unit (152) is out of range of the subservient unit (154), the subservient unit (154) can be operated without restriction.

  • Patent number: 7824052
Abstract: A hands-free dental or surgical light system (100) is disclosed which allows the dentist or surgeon to dim and turn a light (12) on and off by simply pressing pedals on a foot operated assembly (106). First and second receivers (102, 104) are mounted in a power pack (28) usually worn about the waist. First and second foot operated transmitters (112, 114) are turned on and off or activated with the foot of the operator. The first transmitter (112) and receiver (102) operate to toggle the light (12) between the dim and brightened states while the second transmitter (114) and receiver (104) operate to toggle the light on and off.

  • Patent number: 7677888
Abstract: A combination placement tool and light device (10, 50) is disclosed which allows the dentist or surgeon to hold a dental appliance with a vacuum supplied to a flexible skirt (18, 90), position the dental appliance, and then tack the dental appliance in place with a light source (28, 60, 62) using light activated adhesive. The device (10, 50) can also be used to provide a full cure. The device (10, 50) can also have a source of drying air to aid the procedure. The device (50) can be used with a disposable molded acrylic collimator (76).

  • Patent number: 7008074
Abstract: A hands-free dental or surgical light system (10) is disclosed which allows the dentist or surgeon to dim and turn a light (12) on and off by simply moving their head. First and second infrared sensitive switches (16, 18) are mounted on glasses (14) worn by the operator. The switches are positioned at different angles so that if the operator moves their head to point the first infrared sensitive switch (16) at a remotely located infrared source (20), the first infrared sensitive switch (16) will be activated to dim the light (12). Similarly, if the operator moves their head to point the second infrared sensitive switch (18) at the infrared source (20), the light (12) will be turned on and off.
