  • Patent number: 4979648
Abstract: A push-pull dispensing closure for a container includes a child-resistant sleeve which is slidably retained between the closure dispensing cap and the closure base member. In its NORMAL position, the sleeve obstructs opening access to the cap. When the sleeve is pushed toward the base member to a READY position, the cap can be gripped for opening movement. The sleeve is molded with a resiliently deformable plastic into which a return force is introduced as the sleeve is pushed toward ists READY position.

  • Patent number: 4548331
Abstract: A two piece safety or child resistant dispensing closure for granular or pellet material. The opening of the dispensing window can be varied to control the rate of dispensing. One piece of the closure is a cap which is attached to the container by threads or a snap-on flange. The cap has a pair of opposed circumferential windows in its top. The second piece of the closure is a flat cover with corresponding circumferential dispensing windows. The cover is attached to the cap for rotation between an aligned window dispensing position and a closed, nonaligned window position. A pair of opposed rocker arms which may be depressed by the thumb and forefinger of the user is used to release the cover from its closed position and rotate it to a dispensing position. Detents on the cap coact with the rocker arms on the cover to secure the cover and cap with any desired degree of alignment between the windows on the cap and cover to achieve metered dispensing.

  • Patent number: 4371095
Abstract: A one piece child resistant closure for containers in which the closure is permanently attached to a container and dispensing of the container contents is through an orifice closed and sealed by a plug. Removing the plug from the orifice requires pressing of the closure in a specific location to expose an edge of a hinged cover permitting gripping and swinging of the cover member and plug to a fully opened position. During pressing to expose a lifting edge, the plug remains in sealing engagement with the dispensing orifice.

  • Patent number: 4335823
Abstract: A child-resistant package consists of a container having an open-ended neck and a cap having a top and an annular skirt which telescopes over the container neck. There are co-operating snap-over retainers on the exterior of the neck and the interior of the cap skirt which require the cap to be moved axially a distance greater than the axial over-lap of the retainers in order to remove the cap. The container neck and the cap skirt also have a radially extending lug and a circumferentially extending ramp that are moved into engageable alignment by flexing the cap skirt inwardly. The ramp has a surface which is inclined relative to the axis of the neck and cap skirt and which has an axial height greater than the distance of axial over-lap of the retainers. In order to remove the cap, the skirt is flexed inwardly to align the lug with the ramp surface and the cap is rotated relative to the container neck causing the cap to be moved axially a distance sufficient to disengage the over-lapped retainers.

  • Patent number: 4298146
Abstract: A one-piece dispensing closure consists of a cup-shaped cap having means for retaining it on the neck of a container and a lid which is connected by an integral hinge to the cap at one edge thereof and which is adapted to be swung over on top of the cap There are openings through the top of the cap and through the lid, one of which is closed by a stopper element when the lid is swung over and pressed down into closed position against the top of the cap. The relative positions and sizes of the opening in the lid and the stopper element are such that the stopper is withdrawn from the opening when the lid is lifted angularly a short distance to open position by raising the edge of the lid opposite the hinge connection. The cap and lid have cooperating means for limiting the normal, upward, angular movement of the lid away from closed position to open position.

  • Patent number: 4261486
Abstract: A one-piece dispensing closure has an annular skirt on the inner side of which there are threads which co-operate with threads on a container neck for retaining the closure on the container. The closure has a disc-like top in which there is a dispensing opening and a lid for the opening which is an integral part of the closure and is hinged to the closure top at one edge thereof. The lid has an integral plug adapted to close the dispensing opening when the lid is swung into closing position overlying the closure top. The closure top and the underside of the lid have co-operating projections, for example, ears and a post, which function to prevent the lid from swinging to closing position when the closure is turned over to position for dispensing content material and which can be manually interengaged for retaining the lid in closing position when desired.

  • Patent number: 4213534
Abstract: A container having a tubular neck and a cup-shaped cap, the container and cap having twist action retaining means such as cooperating threads, in which the container and the cap also have child-resistant locking means. The child-resistant locking means consist of at least one set of co-operating stop and lug, preferably two each. When the cap is turned onto the neck to closed position, that one of the stop or lug on the cap is turned clockwise beyond engagement. The stop has a lug engaging abutment face which is inclined backwardly from its outer edge in a counterclockwise direction. When the cap is turned in retrograde direction toward opening, and the lug engages the abutment face it is urged radially inwardly to more strongly resist unscrewing the cap. The stop and lug are disengageable by radially outwardly deforming the portion of the cap on which one of the stop or lug is formed.

  • Patent number: 4172533
Abstract: Child-resistant locking means for a container and a cap therefor. The container has a tubular neck and the cap has a circular top and an annular skirt. The container neck and cap have interengageable threads for retaining the cap on the closure. The child-resistant locking means consist of an outwardly extending stop on the container neck and a cap lug engageable therewith to normally prevent retrograde rotation of the cap. The cap lug is located on a curved, resilient, web-like member which extends around the base of the cap and which has outwardly extending struts to space it from the cap. The cap lug is located about 45.degree. from one of the struts. In the preferred embodiment the resilient member is a complete ring, either circular or oval or a similar shape. Squeezing the resilient member inwardly along a diameter spaced about 45.degree. from the cap lug bulges the member outwardly at the lug so that the lug clears the container stop when the cap is rotated for removal.

  • Patent number: 4124134
Abstract: A child-resistant package for liquids consisting of a container and a cap therefor. The container has a narrow tubular neck and a protruding concentric spout of diameter less than that of the neck so there is a shoulder at the base of the spout connnecting the spout to the container neck. The spout has an annular lip and a circular rib on its exterior that is located between the shoulder and the end of the spout. The rib has conical upper and lower surfaces which meet at a circular apex. The lower conical surface defines with the neck an angle which is greater than the angle defined between the upper conical surface and the neck. The package includes a cup-shaped cap which fits over the end of the spout.
