Abstract: A combination threaded cap and neck finish for a liquid container having mating threads on the cap interior and the exterior of the neck and also having second cooperating cam means on the cap and the container neck for applying downward thrust to the cap to maintain liquid tight sealing of the container neck even when the cap is rotated in the loosening direction through an angle relative to the container neck so as to disengage the downward thrusting surfaces of the mating threads. Some embodiments of the invention also have child-resistant cooperating means which prevent removal of the cap unless such means are disengaged by a separate and different manipulation.

Abstract: A substantially leak-proof and child-resistant combination closure comprising a container and a cap. The container has a neck and the cap has a tubular skirt which fits over the container neck, a disc-like top and resilient annular shoulder portion. The cap skirt and bottle neck have cooperating means for retaining the cap on the container. There is a sealing liner beneath the top of the cap which engages and seals the open end of the container neck. The cap skirt and the container in some embodiments have cooperating locking means which are engaged when the cap is moved down to normal closed position on the bottle neck. The locking means function to render the closure child-resistant. Other embodiments have tamper indicating means. The resilient shoulder portion of the cap flexes to compensate for tolerance variations in the cooperating retaining means on the cap and container neck in order to insure that the cap liner seals the neck of the container.

Abstract: A child-resistant overcap adapted to be positioned over a threaded screw cap which has axially extending ribs on the outer surface of its threaded skirt, in order to make the entire closure child-resistant. The overcap has a disc-like top and a cylindrical skirt which nests over the screw cap. An inwardly extending lip on the bottom edge of the overcap skirt retains the overcap in position after assembly. The disc-like top of the overcap is slotted with at least two diametric slots, arranged with their axes normal to each other. One slot is formed by two diametrically opposed, outwardlyconverging pairs of edges defining V-notches and the other slot may be a narrow slit. The inner wall of the overcap skirt has at least one axial driving rib which protrudes radially inwardly and is located at the outer end of the narrow slit.
