Abstract: This invention relates to compositions for use in automatic laundry dryers comprising at least one piperazine compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein A is ##STR2## or ##STR3## Y is --O-- or --NR.sub.4 --; Z is alkylene containing 2 to 6 carbon atoms in the principal chain and a total of up to 8 carbon atoms;R is alkyl containing from about 8 to about 30 carbon atoms and may contain at least one of --S--, --O--, ##STR4## CONR.sub.4, epoxy and double bond in the chain; R.sub.2 is alkyl containing up to about 30 carbon atoms and may contain at least one of --S--, --O--, ##STR5## --CONR.sub.4 --, epoxy and double bond in the chain; and R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are each H or lower alkyl;with the proviso that the total number of carbon atoms in the acyl R and R.sub.2 groups is at least 18;X is a salt-forming anion; R.sub.1 is H, lower alkyl, hydroxylower- alkyl or benzyl; and n is an integer from 1 to 4.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a process for preparing a quaternary ammonium compound which comprises the reaction product of (a) a tertiary amine; (b) an alkylating agent characterized by the presence of a first member selected from the group consisting of hydroxyl and thiol radicals and a second member, a halogen atom, disposed on adjacent carbon atoms; and (c) an epoxy compound acting as an entraining reactant.

Abstract: Disclosed is a stable, free-flowing particulate imidazoline product of the structure: ##STR1## where R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 independently are a saturated C.sub.12 -C.sub.22 alkyl group. The product is made by condensing and cyclyzing a fatty acid or ester and a polyamine wherein the molten, cyclyzed, solvent-free product is rapidly cooled to a particulate form.

Abstract: Esters are obtained from organic carboxylic acids and/or lower molecular weight esters thereof by a liquid phase reaction at temperatures of about 200.degree. C. to about 350.degree. C., pressures of about 50 psi to about 1800 psi, whereby water and/or alcohol by-product is removed during the reaction of the acid and/or lower molecular weight ester to the ester to thereby obtain the desired ester.

Abstract: Disclosed is an improvement in process for oxidizing an aromatic amine to form an aromatic amine oxide wherein a reaction mixture of the aromatic amine and a peracid is formed and maintained under non-aqueous conditions at a temperature and for a time adequate until substantially all of the aromatic amine is formed into said aromatic amine oxide. The provision for eliminating water from the reaction mixture leads to near quantitative yields of aromatic amine oxide.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for stabilizing an aqueous tertiary di-(.beta.-hydroxy organo) amine oxide which comprises incorporating therein a stabilizing proportion of an amine oxide salt which is the reaction product of a tertiary amine oxide and a protic acid.

Abstract: A polyol composition consisting essentially of a homogenous liquid admixture of propylene glycol and a diol obtained by alkoxylating a propylene glycol dispersion of 3,3',5,5'-tetrabromobisphenol A with ethylene oxide, propylene oxide or mixtures thereof. These polyol compositions are useful in preparing fire and chemical resistant thermosetting resinous compositions.

Abstract: Disclosed are tertiary amine oxides which comprise an amine oxide nucleus substituted with an organic group and with two hydroxy groups which have carbon atoms in at least the .alpha., .beta. and .gamma. positions, a hydroxyl group on the .beta.-carbon atom, and have an effective chain length of at least 4 carbon atoms, said amine oxide being capable of being provided in ostensibly anhydrous form and being capable of being made at a concentration by weight of at least about 80% by oxidizing the corresponding tertiary amine with an oxidizing agent without solvent and without gelling during said oxidation.
