  • Patent number: 5481793
Abstract: A boiler wall tube tool for clamping together adjacent ends at a juncture of a boiler wall tube in a boiler wall. The tool includes first and second opposing clamping members, each clamping member including a recess suitable for engaging an exterior surface of a tube and for extending across the juncture of a tube. A pair of slots which are spaced from each other and substantially aligned with the slots on the other clamping member are provided in each clamping member. The slots on the first clamping member include sloped edges terminating at an outer portion thereof. A hook-and-bolt member secures the clamping members around the tube segments. The hook-and-bolt member includes a pair of hook arms for extending through the slots of the clamping members and suitable for passing through a spacing between laterally adjacent boiler tubes. Each end of the hook arms terminates in hooked ends for engaging the sloped edges on the slots of the first clamping member.

  • Patent number: 5118024
Abstract: A remote pipe fitting tool for adjustably positioning the ends of relatively small pipes while being tack welded. The tool includes clamps engaging adjacent pipe ends with each of the clamps including laterally extending arms which are interconnected at their outer ends by a plurality of spaced turnbuckles with a pair of outermost turnbuckles and an inner turnbuckle adjusting various relationships between the pipe ends. Each of the arms includes means to longitudinally adjust the length thereof to move the adjacent pipe ends transversely in relation to each other. Also, each arm includes a jack bolt and pivot structure enabling the clamps and thus the pipe ends to be angularly adjusted. The remote pipe tool enables adjacent pipe ends to be joined to be universally adjusted in relation to each other in an accurate, positive, quick and easy manner thereby greatly facilitating the positioning of pipe ends when being joined by welding.

  • Patent number: 5052608
Abstract: A tool used in joining the adjacent ends of pipes and the like including a structural arrangement which is capable of moving the ends of the members to be joined towards and away from each other, transversely in relation to each other for alignment and adjusting the angular relation of the adjacent ends to accurately, positively, quickly and easily position adjacent ends of pipe members and the like in optimum desired relation for joining the members by welding. The tool includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced lugs mounted on each member to be joined in spaced relation to the end thereof with the ends being secured in place by a clamp structure or the like with the lugs being interconnected by turnbuckle structures having radial screw threaded members at each end thereof with manipulation of the turnbuckle structures and radial screws enabling the adjacent ends of the members to be joined to be oriented in optimum position for welding.

  • Patent number: 4936500
Abstract: This invention relates to a bolt-type boiler wall tube tool in which boiler tubes in the form of a wall can be clampingly secured to retain adjacent ends of the boiler tubes forming the wall in aligned relation when connecting the ends of the boiler wall tubes by welding.

  • Patent number: 4722468
Abstract: A tool for positioning and retaining boiler pipe sections in aligned, spaced relation and enabling the boiler pipe sections to be joined by heliarc welding which incorporates a split block having opposed recesses therein which cooperate to define a passageway for receiving the adjacent ends of boiler pipe sections to retain the boiler pipe sections in alignment. The two split block components are slidably interlocked by a tongue and groove connection and spacers are provided in the tool for engaging adjacent end of boiler pipe sections to retain the pipe sections in aligned and spaced relation. Each of the split block components includes access openings which enable access to opposite surfaces of the opposed ends of the boiler pipe sections to enable heliarc welding of a portion of the adjacent ends of the boiler pipe sections. An over-center pulling device is provided to pull the boiler pipe sections into aligned adjacent relation so that the split block can be assembled onto adjacent boiler pipe sections.

  • Patent number: 4579272
Abstract: A tool for positioning and retaining boiler pipe sections in aligned, spaced relation enabling the boiler pipe sections to be joined by heliarc welding incorporating a split block having opposed recesses therein which cooperate to define a passageway that is open at one side for receiving the adjacent ends of boiler pipe sections to retain the boiler pipe sections in alignment together with a spacing arrangement engaged with the opposed ends of the boiler pipe sections to retain the adjacent ends in adjustably spaced adjacent relation to enable heliarc welding of a portion of the adjacent ends of the boiler pipe sections.

  • Patent number: 4493139
Abstract: A boiler pipe assembly tool that has separate one-piece gripping jaws engaged with the pipe sections or tubes to be connected, an operating lever and short flexible chains connecting the lever and jaws to move adjacent ends of the tube sections into aligned relation and into engagement with an interposed chill ring used to provide resistance necessary to allow the tool to function in the alignment of and welding of the tube sections. The separate gripping jaws include a structure enabling the point of connection of the chains to be adjusted thereby varying the force moment arm on each jaw.
