  • Patent number: 9930538
Abstract: An apparatus includes a first port and a second port operably coupled to a format conversion module each of which is at least partially disposed within a housing. The first port is operably coupled to a cable configured to transfer a first data unit having a first format associated with a first communication medium to the first port. The format conversion module receives the first data unit from the first port and converts the first data unit from the first format to a second format associated with a second communication medium to produce a second data unit. The second port is operably coupled to a wireless access point that is physically distinct from the housing. The second port is configured to receive the second data unit and send the second data unit to the wireless access point.

  • Patent number: 8874331
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for idle speed control based on variable torque converter load. An automobile can include an idle throttle variation unit. The idle throttle variation unit can include, for example, a throttle, an engine, a torque converter, a transmission, multiple sensors, an engine control unit (“ECU”), and/or a memory. The multiple sensors can detect engine output speed data corresponding to engine output speed, and/or transmission output speed data corresponding to transmission input speed. The throttle can control airflow to the engine to match a target total airflow for a target idle engine speed. The ECU can determine the target total airflow for the throttle using a target total airflow table which includes target total airflow values corresponding to the engine output peed, the transmission input speed, and/or a torque converter speed ratio.

  • Publication number: 20100263852
Abstract: Providing a plurality of fans within an enclosure. A system implementing this technique can include an enclosure, a heat sink in thermal communication with the enclosure, electronic components at least partially sealed within the enclosure, an eXclusive OR (XOR) fan array, a monitoring engine, and a control engine. A method implementing this technique can include using a heat sink to dissipate heat generated by electronic components within an enclosure; determining that each of the fans of a XOR fan array are stopped, selecting one and only one of the fans of the XOR fan array for operation, and operating the fan to increase air flow within the enclosure, thereby increasing the efficiency of the heat sink.

  • Patent number: 6725443
Abstract: A system and method are provided for forming a template cell on the input/output (I/O) surface of an integrated circuit (IC). The first metal layer of the cell includes a plurality of parallel bus lines extending from one edge of the cell to the other. A second underlying metal layer includes bus lines extending in an orthogonal direction to the first layer lines. A signal routing layer underlies the second metal layer, with a routing channel located around the edges of the cell, and ESD and output buffer circuits placed inside of the routing channel. The bus lines of the first and second metal layers, and the routing channel of the signal routing layer, have connection areas so that connections are formed by abutting the cells. Each cell also includes a flip-chip solder pad overlying the first metal layer that can be connected by a via to either the first or second metal layer.

  • Patent number: 6255830
Abstract: An electromagnetic field generator is provided which consists of a regulated self contained voltage supply connected to a high frequency clock which drives one or more printed circuit board antennas. The clock may be a TTL or ECL based clock for example. The electromagnetic field generator is used in a method of testing the shielding effectiveness of an enclosure. Two measurements are made with a measurement antenna of emissions from the electromagnetic field generator, one with the enclosure in place and another without the enclosure in place, the shielding effectiveness being the difference between these two measurements.

  • Patent number: 5699545
Abstract: A system and method for generating row addresses for a memory structure on a column by column basis. In accordance with the novel method, a column read start address (SC) is subtracted from a column address (COL) to provide a column offset. Next, the column offset is multiplied by the multiplicative inverse of the skip period in modulo (SPM.sup.-1) to provide a first product. The first product is multiplied by a skip period between data strings to provide a second product. The second product is divided by a number (NC) which represents the number of columns in the memory structure to provide a first quotient. Finally, a base row address of a first row to be read (BRA) is added to the first quotient to provide a row address (RA). In a specific embodiment, the step of multiplying the column offset by the multiplicative inverse of the skip period in modulo includes the step of converting the first product to a modulo product.
