Publication number: 20210244135Abstract: A fastening device for connecting identified openings, including: an elongated main body member defining a longitudinal axis, the main body member having a first end portion and a second end portion at opposite ends of the longitudinal axis; first and second tip end members located at the first end portion and second end portion of the body, respectively, the first and second tip end members each adapted to fit through one of the identified openings; and a first deformable interference portion located between the main body member and the first tip end member, and a second deformable interference portion located between the main body and the second tip end member; where the first and second deformable interference portions are each normally located in a rest state where they define an outer dimension that prevents their passage through one of the identified openings. Other embodiments, features and methods are also described.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 28, 2021Publication date: August 12, 2021Inventors: Gaston Frydlewski, Maria R. Waingarten, David Reeb

Publication number: 20210145126Abstract: A rate dependent tether for securing a shoe to a user, and footwear incorporating the rate dependent tether. The rate dependent tether may include a tube filled with a shear-thickening material and at least one cable or ribbon. In conditions of normal, low, or no intense activity by the user, the rate dependent tether's deformation resistance is low allowing the rate dependent tether to be extended to allow insertion or removal of the foot. At active levels, for example, participating in sporting events or intense activities, the rate dependent tether's deformation resistance is high preventing the rate dependent tether from loosening and securing the shoe on the user. The rate dependent tether may be connected to a saddle. A rate dependent insole for footwear, a support impregnated with a shear-thickening fluid, a rate dependent footcone, and rate dependent bands are also described.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 20, 2018Publication date: May 20, 2021Inventors: Kyle Sola, Gaston Frydlewski, Michael Steszyn, Joseph McMillan, Peter Valois, Peter Rueegger

Publication number: 20190147667Abstract: The present invention is directed to methods for creating a virtual line at a place of interest, and for presenting congestion of a line at a place of interest. The methods include: receiving a request to enter a virtual line at a place of interest from a first individual; placing the first individual in the virtual line; tracking a check-in and -out time of the first individual in the virtual line; determining, based on the check-in and -out time, a congestion symbol of the virtual line; and presenting the congestion symbol to a second individual. The methods also include: receiving a request by an individual for a congestion indication for a first and second line at the first and second place of interest, respectively; determining the congestion indications for the first and second lines; and presenting the first and second congestion indications. Systems operating in similar fashion are disclosed herein.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 15, 2017Publication date: May 16, 2019Inventors: Nicolas Susco, Patricio Romero, Gaston Frydlewski, Michael Twersky
