  • Patent number: 4347667
Abstract: Apparatus for checking linear geometric dimensions of the raceway of a ball bearing ring. A base supports a rotatable plate, which makes a ring rotate about its geometrical axis, and a mobile arm which applies to gauging heads a reciprocating motion along the transversal direction of the raceway. The gauging heads have relevant feelers which, due to the motion of the gauging heads and the rotation of the ring, contact the raceway surface along lines having an oscillating form. The gauging heads provide signals responsive to the radial dimensions of the ring in correspondence with the raceway. The signals provided by the gauging heads are processed by electronic circuits for obtaining signals responsive to said geometric dimensions, for example signals indicating the raceway minimum diameter.

  • Patent number: 4005528
Abstract: A measuring device for checking mechanical pieces either while stationary or rotating which includes a first feeler substantially fixed with respect to a support and in alignment with a measuring head having a second feeler and supported by the support, a commutation unit containing a shaft and cams for changing the support and an electrical unit for detecting and visually recording the diameters and geometrical errors. In a first working condition the support of the measuring device can oscillate in order to allow both the first and second feeler to remain in contact with the piece to be gauged. The commutation unit allows for a change from the first working condition for measuring diameters of the work piece through the first and second feelers to a second working condition for measuring geometrical errors of a piece through the second feeler.

  • Patent number: 3950856
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the precision measurement of the longitudinal development of seats of mechanical workpieces such as side seals for Wankel engines whereby an inextensible element of known length slightly smaller than the theoretical length of the seat is inserted in the seat and displaced along it and the clearance, with respect to the length of the seat, is detected as a consequence of the displacements. The apparatus includes an element adapted to be inserted in the seat, a position transducer coupled to the element and movable arms adapted to displace the element along the seat from a first position in which one of its ends is in correspondence with an end of the seat to a second position in which the other end is in correspondence with the relevant end of the seat. The position transducer detects the amplitude of the displacement.
